Lemme ask you guys a question then:

Should we be allowed to post hardcore pornography, as well? If not, please explain why not.

 

Why does everything have to be black and white with you? I've said over and over again in three different threads that attacking someone for their views is unacceptable and went on to say that a better solution is for the proper moderating of these threads. If anyone flames, get rid of them. If anyone is cruel or insensative, get rid of them. Just stop the trouble makers, not the discussion. I don't know how to be any clearer than that.

 

Pornography is a facet that society as a whole, has condemned as demeaning and with no postitive societal effects. It is sexist, promotes violence against women, and sex alone is considered a topic of too much 'maturity' for teenagers to handle.

History proves time and time again that teenagers (and younger) can handle religion with even the oldest of people, and can do a damn fine job of it too!

 

When the average life span is all of 30, you tend to mature faster.

I think the same cannot be said of today's teenager.

All the same, I've always felt that the people I've encountered here are above average in everything. I don't mean to say that all people under 20 are too young to deal with difficult topics in a mature way. It just seems that the few I know of who complain often are relatively young.

Yes, but what if I believe my child should not be exposed to religious fanatics? Would you put your child in a situation where he or she may be exposed to pornography? I don't want my children to be told what to believe, I want them to figure it out for themselves. And no one on any Star Wars messageboard is going to tell them who or what to believe. I don't care about diversity, I don't want any religous discussion outside of its pertinance to Star Wars at all. Let people make up their own minds, without your "teachings".

 

So why let people influence their opinions on Jar Jar, or Midichlorians, or whether GL will make episodes 7-9???
If you want your kids to shun exposure...why bring them to a messageboard???

Religious threads have been closed and I completely support the decision. I am sure there are plenty of religious message boards you can discuss religion 24/7.

Society as a whole? Then why is it the most profitable enterprise on the internet? And is it, in fact, demeaning? Do you have any evidence to back this up? (As an avid feminist I'm curious, since in all my reading on the subject I've never seen anything quantifiable that would prove this.)

Teens never talk about sex? Sure my son never discusses it in front of me, but I'm not so naive as to think he doesn't discuss it with his friends.

I'm hoping, that many people consider their beliefs, whatever they are, more important to themselves then what others think of Jar Jar.

As I have said before, many people consider their religion very close to their heart and it is very important to them. And to have people come in and tell them they're going to hell because they believe or don't believe something is a thing that should never happen. And don't deny that it happens, hell, its happened in this thread. Not everyone who posts here is able to adequatly deal with that. There are some people who take this seriously.

If you people absloutley require religion to have a serious discussion, then I think you need examine what you are beinging to the discussion. There are a couple other boards I post at where religion very rarely comes up and we have tons of serious discussions. If you absolutely have to talk about religion, go to a ezboard themed towards it, I'm sure there are many out there whop have pretty large user bases. The adminstration has said don't do it here, so find another outlet for your discussion. Its not that hard.

I'd have to say on the whole it's been the anti-religion people who've started most of the trouble, but it doesn't matter. Ban it all. Lock it down. Turn out the lights and send the kids to bed.

 

Well, I am not offended by thet banners. hell, you got Christmas stuff there, Jewish stuff there too and even Kwanza stuff there. The three major holidays of December. Oh, and the Christmas tree and red and green colors, while are colors and symbols of Christmas, are also colors of many Pagan groups. Yes, the Christmas tree believe it or not is Pagan.

And no, there are lines and you will know them. If you want a thread about some woman complaining about Wiccan books, thats fine. Because it is an event which happend and it is not a thread which is to single out anyone, instead you are remarking.

If some crazy old Jewish relative of mine nagged me because I dont keep Kosher, and make a thread about it, it is not bad. I am not singling out.

Now if you YOURSELF say you agree with this lady because Wiccans are bad and will all go to hell or is against Christianity in your OWN opinion, then that is bad. Right there you have a thread that is attacking others.

There is a line. You will know when to cross it.

And you can say G-d all you want. You are blowing things out of porportion. Specifi threads are banned. I am sure if there is a thread and you mention G-d it will not matter.

If you want to see something that causes animosity in a thread, mention E.U. in the PSA. After a while they learn not to argue about it or forgo the threads altoghether. If it starts getting messy the mods do what they must. But yet it can't be done in JCC?

Explain the difference please.
