New ship...

Got my system working again.. lets hope it stays that way

this counts sorta like a doodle i guess dont quite know what it is really.. but here it is

Star Trek is BAD. Anyway, show us a bigger picture so we can see the overall shape, from this I can't really tell.

 

I like Star Trek. More specifically, Seven of Nine, but the show's pretty awesome too!

the fun part is thats all that htere really is i havnt thought about the size.. or what the main body will look like.. we'll see since im just going on whatever i feel at the moment.. (will work more on it tonight..) all the detail i've really done on this is the area around the bridge so far, which is why no one can really comment on it yet i was just excited to have my computer _able_ to do any opengl work again that i had to do something

anyway here's a pulled back shot just so you can get an idea where the main body can go (tho i think the ship over all will be much larger than what this pic will look like..)

When i look at it, I think of it as a engine section of a ship, but it looks like it could turn into something else pretty quick.

Still debating on how to do the main body (i dont like how it is now.. so its going out..) but i have updated the bridge area a bit.. still debating on how to do lower levels and the top but most of the middle layers im happy with so far.. anyway here it is

just a quick update before i go to bed..

smoothed out the rough spots and added some more detail to the bridge area. Also dropped the old main hull, will probably replace it with something a bit more appealing later.. when i decide what it should be

that looks great. I have just started getting into modelling properly so I can safely say, your doodles are far better than my finished work

quick construction question from someone looking to get serious. the detail on the bridge; do you extrude it all from the rest of the model or is each item of detail a separate object?

 

well.. depends on my mood really.. The larger pieces.. like the bridge triangle and the area behind the bridge are all separate objects while the smaller details (most of the plating) are separated from the main object but extruded off them selves.. alot of the lines were drilled.. tho i dont know what the term equivelent in max is to this..

 

just a quick update.. since i havnt had much time i just "sketched" the very basic and not very accurate (bad polys too) shape of what i was thinking for the hull.. the end result will be more curved than it is now and hopefully will fit in better

It looks like a boat, if that's what you need then that would be great. If it's a spaceship, I would jut out the bottom of the front further.

i think that the bottom should be flattened some... seems too "tall"... looks great though...

 

I've always wanted to play around with the Eclipse-class, looks like now it is becoming more and more a reality.
