I'm almost done with the headpiece of the Shaak Ti outfit that I'm working on. Once that's done I can finally start on the sewing to make the rest of the outfit. Hopefully, I'll be finished by StarFest.

As soon as I'm done with the headpiece I'll get the pic developed and post them here.

Shan has been telling me quite a bit about how the construction is going on it.. I can hardly wait for the pics.

And The good Captain is coming right along. Lots of new tiny details getting worked on. Ahh the joys of inside information... a costumer's dream come true. LOL...(Actually having a blast putting this thing together..) Hmmm reminds me.... time to order more makeup and to go find out.. "Where did the rum go?":p

So for all the new costumes... YEA!!!!!!! For conventions coming up... YEA!!!

    =D=

    So there.

Yeah, but she does such a great job with the makeup...she and Jos, that is. Doesn't Jos do the makeup application?

I guess I'll post another couple photos. The costume is in the slow-moving stage. A lot of what I've been doing doesn't really "show." I vacuformed the chest and abdominal armor (cuirass) and trimmed it, and reinforced it with Magic Sculp behind. I've also applied the first layer of primer paint to all the pieces and sanded them down. They all need another coat of primer paint and then I can start the REAL painting.

So...Taeriel...how is Bastila coming along, anyway? :)

    - Kai

    Completed vacuform of the cuirass:

Primer coat and first sanding on cuirass, hand armor, and mask (vambraces not in photo):

That's it, so far. Still mostly on track for premiering the costume Memorial Day Weekend.

Like most good canvases, I have to whiten mine up, before I draw on it. :)

Wow! I am in awe of the detail you're putting into the armor! It really takes the costume to an entirely higher level. Very, very impressive!

I, um... haven't done anything at all on the Bastila. [face_blush] I was so busy trying to get my Nirrti costume to some sort of wearable point for Starfest. I kinda sorta got something in time, but it was of the "I'll be totally redoing this at a later date" variety. Beading on the top didn't even start till 9pm Fri night of the con (and it shows!!); the headpiece was started Sat afternoon and thrown together really quickly. Hathor and Nirrti at Starfest (Funny, the overskirt looks a lot more purple to me in person, but only the blue reflected for the flash in the picture.)

Dang, you're going to inspire me to actually get around to working on the Bastila costume, aren't you? I am always too enthusiastic about participating in a common theme/group for my own good. That's how I ended up pushing through for the Nirrti outfit, even though I really wasn't nearly prepared in time. And here I was so looking forward to just kicking back and relaxing (once the current insane deadline at work is past) and forgetting all this costuming stuff... :p

Hey everyone else...costumes are looking good! And sounding good.
Can hardly wait to see everyone at BayCon. Now just to get that meeting time locked in...:)

Well, don't drive yourself crazy to finish it! :) It'd be great to see your Bastila costume done, but not if it means you'll be burning the proverbial candle at both ends. *hug* It's "friendly pressure" I am exerting, not "unreasonable pressure." You know, the "Ooooh! Neat! I'd love to see that!" kinda pressure instead of, "So, ok...like, where is it?"

    ;)

Actually I can't think of a single costume I didn't have to finish under the gun, no matter how far in advance I started the project.

I think it's par for the course.

Yep, I agree with Sid. I do a few things at the last minute...every time. :)

Oh, my Durmstrang costume...though it's not from Star Wars.
It's the same one that's on my Live Journal account, Dakron.

Well, darling, I always rely on the kindness of strangers, and ya'lls just about the strangest men I ever met.

Yes, that was me...I was just telling my friends about, "Torchsong Trilogy." :)
