I think we should use that Carl Sandburg poem Phil dug up. Except instead of "City of Big Shoulders" we use...

CHICAGO FORCE: HOG BUTCHER OF THE WORLD

I like, "We're on a mission from Yoda.". But I think it'd be MUCH MUCH cooler (and marketable) if we could do it with a graphic of say Anakin & Obi-Wan wearing Sunglasses. Maybe a future endeavor. But that's just my humble opinion.

    Now that's friggin' coolio JJ!
Question is, wonder how much it costs to screen-print actual pictures (even altered ones)..as opposed to doing a cartoonish one (which would be far inferior). HEY, I'LL CHECK AND SEE!

Just a thought here, but the
    reason I suggested cartoon Jedi
in an earlier post is that a
    cartoon can't sue.

Actually (DarthJurist correct me if I'm wrong), but a cartoon image (and maybe even cartoons and recognizable silhouettes of characters are property of their creators (like bugs bunny...and probably even Luke Skywalker). However, the actual face of a celebrity can be put anywhere (so long as it's not in a slanderous display).
I only know this because years ago I tried to get an airbrush artist at the beach to do a Ninja Turtle shirt for me...and apparently being one of the few who respect the rules explained that he couldn't do Ninja Turtles. However, he said he could do Han Solo...as it would be a picture of Harrison Ford (who's face isn't anyone's intellectual property).

So we could do a shirt with Haden & Ewan (or Ewan & Sam). But then again, maybe we could do a cartoon version of them (not sure. 'Jurist?

I was thinking of an original cartoon
character, not one that already exists.
Can't be sued over your own artwork.

As for using a Han Solo face or any
of the others, would that bring down
the forces of Lucas's lawyers on us?

I know it wouldn't quite fit with the slogan, but wouldn't Yoda in the sunglasses and hat be alot funnier. JMO

As I understand it, characters are the property of the creator, so that Obi-Wan Kenobi, and any representation of him, is the property of LFL. Photos of people are free domain (unless copyrighted by the photographer), but photos of actors ?in character? are copyrighted. Thus if you are creating an image (be it cartoon or Photoshop or silhouette or whatever) that is meant to be recognizable as a specific character, than you are using LFL intellectual property.

In reality, any image we put on a t-shirt will be designed to be recognized as a SW character, thus most likely if will be LFL property. We?re not going to put a pic of Hayden on our shirt just because we like his haircut. We would use it because he is playing a LFL character. I know that some groups have used SW images on shirts, but I don?t know if they have permission or if they got tagged by Lucas. Who knows.

The other thing to remember is that different groups have received permission from LFL to use images on shirts for charity projects. (www.StarWarsChicks.com). Personally, if we are going to use an image, I?d like to go all the way and use something that is fully recognizable, which would mean getting permission. Seeing as we do have a charity aspect, I would hope that Georgie-boy would consent. A yoda with glasses would be uber-cool with the Yoda quote.

At this point, we are not looking to put any LFL images on the line-shirts, only our group logo and the winning quote. Also at this point I feel compelled to state here and now that Chicago Force is now way intends to infringe upon the intellectual property of LFL or George Lucas, and recognizes that all Star Wars characters and their portrayals are the sole property of LFL. :D

    Further affiant sayith not.

Unfortunately Snowboards seems to smash JPG's of any size into a little cube.

Frank Oz...the Blues Brother's Star Wars Link. Oh and Carrie Fisher too. Who else am I missing?

That is the coolest drawing ever, KZ!

It would be the coolest thing in the world to have that on the shirt! Couldn't we have an eensy weensy tiny little fine print disclaimer to deal with the copyright issue?
