I will strive to ask for help when I need it

I will learn how to say "No" sometime in my life

I will finish my journey towards better health by reducing my weight even further and returning to a more active lifestyle

And finally, I will continue to appreciate with awe and wonder the people who haved deigned to share their lives with me.

I resolve to be more patient and understanding even when I feel the person is being 'illogical' (my nice version of 'no common sense').

I want to be more physically active up to and including working out with my Mom's trainer once a week.

Anf finally, I resolve to spend less money on the 'wants' and more on the 'needs'.

But breaking stuff is half the fun. Now you know, and knowing is half the battle.

Ouch. These are always hard to decide on: I want to aim high, but at the same time, I want to be realistic.

    1) I want to try to do better at corresponding with friends - I've gotten seriously bad the past year or two, to the point that I have a friend emailing my old grad advisor to see if something bad had happened to me.

    2) I want to keep trying to do my best at work, rather than getting frustrated with things and people and allowing that to get in the way of getting things done.

    3) I want to actually *finish* some projects at work!

    4) More hiking sounds like a lovely idea. (Hey, AHPR, want to start a RMFF hiking group? Come on guys... it's great for that exercise thing! ^_^)

1 Get more exercise. It does a body good.

2 Get rich. It also does a body good. :D

3 Try to ditch acrylics and start working with oils (I've heard they are more forgiving)

4 Start on my "Great American Novel" I only have a 5 page treatment so far....

5 Jump out of an airplane

    6 Ride a mechanical bull

    Yeehah!!!!!

Lisa and I would be up for that hiking thing, we try to hit some kind of trail every Sat., and now that football is winding down........

Oh, haven't made any official resolutions but I have gained a "few" pounds, so hopefully I will get back into all of my PANTS!

I'm thinking of trying to make the trek up to Hanging Lake again. 2 miles nearly straight up! Not sure if I'll make it this year, but I'd like to give it a try (I'll be carrying a lot less of me up the side of that cliff this time around, so I'm hoping it will be easier :) )

Hiking is great exercise. I'd love to join you all whenever you go. Just keep me off the big rocks, I have a bad habit of falling off of them...... ;)

    This is hard...

    1) I'll get a hold on my language
    2) I'll reach for the stars in more that name
    3) I'll gain some weight -20lbs to skinny is't fun.
    4) I'll get a hold on my touge and not sharpen it so much.
    5) I'll realize the only way to have fun is to disregard the past
    6) I'll not try so hard
    8) I'll stop being so sharp with my family.
    9) I'll get an F on something and not feel guilty.
    10) I'll let go...

PZ- If you wanta hike hannging lake call us up. Phoenx, Jedi_Guy16, and i are locals. We'll be glad to escorte you. It gets easier with each try. There is also only one part that is strait up. I know that trail like the back of my hand. All ya need is some water and a snack and your ready to go. If you really want to see it at its best go just before dusk. The waterfalls are beautifl when the darkness hits.

The EU hikking club would be fun... just as long as we stay in Colorado I might get to go.

One more resolution - how could I have forgotten this one?? Lose weight. I managed to lose some between Thanksgiving and Xmas vacation, but then gained all but 1 lb back while in Calif! :(

Where is Hanging Lake? I don't think I've heard of it. When you say straight up, do you mean the trail is steep, or that it involves rock climbing?

If people are really interested, I think a hiking group would be great. It's always more fun to hike with a group. C_SF - I'm sure we'd stay in Colorado. Mistress - I second the motion to stay away from places easy to fall from! :)

Hanging Lake is in Glenwood Canyon (ie Glenwood Springs). It is a hiking trail and you gain 1,000 feet in elevation in 1.2 miles (2.4 miles round trip). Check the link at the top for more details. I'll bring my pix w/ me to the next meet (from my trip a few years ago - before my serious health problems). I can tell you that it is not an easy hike and last time it took me 2-1/2 hours to get up the trail (3/4 of an hour to come down  ).

I'm looking at sometime in May. As an overnight trip (4-5 hour drive to get to Glenwood Canyon) it is really fun. I'd like to make the hike early in the morning, because I am told there aren't as many people on the trail (very popular trail). So, drive up the day before visit Redstone and Marble, get a great dinner in Glenwood Springs. Hit the trail early the next morning, and maybe relax in the Hot Springs before making the trek back to Denver in the late afternoon.

Thanks for the link - it sounds like a very interesting hike! I didn't realize that Glenwood Springs was that far away... still, it sounds nice. I especially like the description of the extra humidity and the extra plant life as a result of it. I've missed seeing ferns and moss!

Maybe we should start an RMFF hiking thread?
