I am looking to get adopted. Just registered today.I am also fairly new to message boards, so I think this program would be beneficial to me. I will be on the boards mainly Saturday and Sunday. I work 12 hour shifts by myself in a very large plant. So some interaction with some Star Wars fans would be a nice change to break up the silence.

I am 29 years old, male. I live in Orlando, Florida. I am happily married with two children. A boy and a girl, the boy is 1 year old, and the girl is a newborn. I have been watching the Star Wars movies ever since I was a young child. I know some of the expanded universe characters, though I have read none of it. I learned of them through the character guide. Though I have a friend who has read them all and he has told me some of the stories. I hope to read some of them once the kids are a little older and I have more free time.

I am a fan of football, the Philadelphia Eagles are my favorite team. I am a big Beatles fan, as well as Weezer. There are not too many current musical artists I care for, though I do like anything Jack White does. I am really just looking for a place to socialize and also learn more about the Star Wars universe and the fan community.

I attended a day of Celebration V and had an amazing time. And seeing this board and how everybody came together as a community inspired me to register. So if you could find somebody to help me get used to things it would be great. Thanks in advance.

Hey there! What areas of the forums are you interested in (a.k.a three or so different boards)? It'll help Skiara figure out who's a good match for a mentor for you.

 

I haven't looked very far outside of the welcome forum. But I will take a look around and post some. Thanks for the suggestion.

 

I have taken a look. I would say the ones that stand out are the JC Community, Books and Comics, the Film and Televsion, and maybe Role Playing down the road. I am interested in getting caught up with the EU, and in a few years when my kids are older and I maybe have more free time, getting back into the role playing. I hope that helps.

 

On the front page of this thread, there is a list of masters and the areas they prefer.

 

Hello Wookatme. Our adoptions coordinator Skiara is on reduced time at the moment, so it might take a little longer for her to respond to your request than it usually would. But as you can see, there are others around to help as well.

Looking at the list of available adopters on the first page, I would suggest Sith-Lord-Gunray as a possible match for your interests. She's active in the JC Community, the Literature forum and in the Clone Wars area as well.

You already have enough posts to start sending out private messages. Go ahead and contact her, if you like. Or would you prefer for someone else to establish contact?

There is a list on the first page of this thread with the available Mentors and the forums they specialize in; you can always contact one of them via PM. If you need more posts to be able to have access to the PM function, there is a place to get those remaining posts at the top of the forum.

Can you tell us a little more about your interests, i.e., which forums do you think you'll be visiting the most? Then we can pair you up with a specialist for those areas. And if you tell us your general location (America, Europe, etc.), we might be able to find someone in a time zone close to your own, too - increases your chances of being on-line at the same time.


Wookatme, were you able to talk to SLG yet? If so, how did it go?

Who is responsible for Adoptions while Skiara is away, anyway? Has she named a backup in the past?
