the 2nd is cool with me too, just looked over the gate website, nice selection of eateries, the only thing now is to decide which film (the prestige looks good by december it could be a FF-UK private showing)

Have to agree with the above. I'll probably have seen it already by then, but it'll probably be awesome enough for repeat viewing.

Any other recommendations? Agree/disagree with Casino Royale?

...as far as I know right now, 2nd is good for me too...and Casino Royale...well, its Bond - least you know what you are getting (just like curry - you know what to expect the morning after...[face_sick])

Can we wear silly hats? [face_batting]

    2nd is fine for me.
It might be a good idea to book the restaurant soon- Spike I don't mind doing that as I work in Ncle, so it's easy for me to do.

Yes, that was the first thing I thought of, suzi. With a big party a booking would be a good idea (especially for a big party like us). And if you want to book then I shall leave it in your capable hands :D

If anyone has any objection to December 2nd, though, speak now, or forever hold your peace [face_peace]

Spike- I'm going into town today, so I'll pop in and ask about the 2nd and if they need deposists etc. If I can, I'll provisionally book for 10 people, as I can't see there being any more than that without the NW members.

DoT- I work in one of the Higher Education establishments in toon (sorry for being vague, don't like giving away too much online) ;)

I think this depends on cinema times and public transport (those of us who might be taking trains to get up to Newcastle). If Spice Gate is open only on nights, I'd recommend we do cinema first, then food, then a few drinks in the bar at the Gate.

Nige, can you make the evenings or would earlier be better for you?

the afternoons are better (wife doesn't like being in the house by herself at night), the spice cube opens on saturday at 12 noon if people are getting trains (like me if it happens on the afternoon and evening i'll be getting the 10.02 train from hartlepool gets to newcastle at 10.50, i have some business to attent to then on to the gate) into newcastle then that gives them all morning to get there and the films start (eg casino royale starts at 10.40 ish and the 13.40ish)

Well, I don't want to have the curry too early. Doesn't go down well as good as it would on an evening. Of course, this is good for cinema first, then eating.

I guess we'll have to wait and see if suzi's booked it today.

However im gutted to find i have missed issues 4 of star wars Legacy and issue 8 of Knights of the Old Republic but ive ordered them in so hoefully i will get the back issues. But Dark Times issue 1 was out so im a bit happier.lol

Also cool Suzi, sounds interesting where you work but never heard of it.lol I used to work in Borders at Silver Links:)

Right peeps, I've provisionally booked a table for 10 people on the 2nd for 7pm (thinking it would be in the evening, but looking at today's posts, this may change...?). I have to call them next Sat to confirm for definate, but I can always change to the lunchtime. They have two Xmas menus- daytime or evening:

    Buffet menu:
    Daytime £12.95 pp
    Evening £16.50 pp

    A la carte set menu:
    3 course lunch: £15.95 pp
    3 course dinner: £25.00 pp

I'll bring the info with me next weekend so we can decide- someone may have to remind me to ring them though!!

DoT- I work at one of the University's...

I've got no problem with a 7pm meal tbh. It's early enough for us to do everything beforehand and then go have a meal. Nige, what do you think?
