You are the biggest troll here, J-doc.

Why do you feel you need to make your posts so large, man?

4 of those stories are basically covering the one event.

Wait, are we supposed to be voting for the stories based on journalistic merit? I thought it was about voting on the event itself.

NoSoScroLo, why did you not just present two options today then?

We are voting on the event itself, but most secondary Paris stories are receiving more coverage than other primary stories. Hence the options.

Seriously though, I invite any discussion on the merits of my choices, I do take comments into consideration for future picks.

No you don't. You've not listened to one bit of anything anybody has said.

You don't need to limit your content to Europe and the US... there's, like, seven continents, man. If you're going to force this thread on us, at least put in some effort, and make it interesting. JP is correct... instead of giving us several options for one event, you could have given us two news events for today, or put in some effort to find out what else is going on in the world. Earth is a big place.

Maybe if you participated in the thread instead of consistantly insulting me I'd take your comments a little more constructively.

Nobody has "participated" in the way you imply. Your thread has turned into a mockery of you.

    Know when to fold 'em.

Oh give it a rest. I don't think voting threads are a particularly good idea for any topic, so I've been screwing around, but the endless martyring over something you ought to be doing just for fun isn't going to convince anyone that this is worth participating in.

First people complain that they don't like the thread, so you insist you're just going to keep doing it. Fine, whatever, you're literally asking for trolls at that point, but that's not my call to make.

Next people point out that you're putting inordinate focus on sports and celebrities and US-centric news (The last is particularly relevant since our board, while perhaps too US-focused, is composed of an international userbase), and you complain that the critiques aren't constructive, or that "some days the top news is about celebrities" - I call BS on that second one, incidentally - and generally just whine and keep posting exactly the same news as always.

Then today there's a major tragedy, so you naturally feel it ought to be included, but then include multiple articles on the same news story, when there's a great deal more going on in the world. If anything this is the sort of thread where it should be a particularly high priority to note what else is going on right now, as there's a dedicated thread on Paris at the moment. People point this out and once again you go for the martyr route - which if anything should be something that today, of any goddamn day, you really ought to be more self-conscious about, because at least you're alive and able to post this frivolous voting option.

If you're seriously committed to continuing to post voting options in this thread, you ought to be able to seriously adapt to criticism - even from people that are being insulting, because this is the JCC and that's just SOP - if you really want people to take it under the type of consideration you seem so desperately to crave. Constantly kvetching about how nobody likes your pet project on a Star Wars message board is going to do nothing to accomplish that.

I'd vote for the word "kvetching" in a 2015 Word of the Day thread.
