chiefs over bills. hate to go against them again, but even this isn't a lock with how the bills played last week.

I'm gonna be a rebel and pick Miami.

Well, sorry about not noticing that. :p In this kind of game, I think the players do a good job of policing themselves with their picks, unless of course they're picking against Buffalo.

pretty sure that's literally the second time i've done that, and even that game i didn't think was a gimme by any stretch of the imagination (going to the absolute end of overtime kinda says that actually). somehow don't think that's a recipe for success for too terribly much longer. they're going to start winning.

You might not pick against Buffalo a lot, but other people do. If I return to run this game for the 2011 season (assuming there's a 2011 season), a rule change is very likely. If you can't pick the same team to win more than once, then you shouldn't pick against the same to lose over & over again. What's the real difference there?

Tunick, first of all, if I hadn't mentioned my strategy was to pick against Buffalo a lot, would you have even noticed I was doing so? I have my doubts.

Second, there's a huge difference in picking the same team to win every week (most years there's a dominant team, this year is just abnormal) and picking against a bottom-feeder every week. History shows its a lot less likely that a truly dominant team loses a game they are supposed to win then it is that a truly pathetic team wins a game they are supposed to lose. Heck, look at the Browns, one of the more pathetic teams in the league. Three years in a row, they've knocked off the defending Super Bowl Champions.

But, just look at it this way. Which shows a real lack of effort:

    Picking:

    New England over Cleveland
    New England over NY Jets
    New England over Buffalo
    New England over Kansas City
    New England over Dallas
    etc

    or

    Picking:

    Baltimore over Buffalo
    NY Jets over Buffalo
    New England over Buffalo
    Pittsburgh over Buffalo
    Philadelphia over Buffalo
    etc

Neither are all that creative, but parity favors a down-trodden to beat a middle-team more than it favors a middle-team to beat a top-dog.

Besides, it's not like you or I invented the NFL Suicide Pick'em. These types of pools have been going on for years just fine with the rules I asked you to follow. :p

Of course I would notice, Inty. :p Sure, both picking against an obvious to win & one to lose is uncreative, it just annoys me more when the same team is picked to lose. But, it's not too much of a big deal. People are playing this game each week, which brings up my total of successfully run JC games to 2.:D
