And here I thought no movie could ever be worse than Rapture-palooza.

If you haven't read it yet, Fred Clark's recap/evisceration of the series is really great.

Rapture-Palooza. A lowbrow tribulation comedy starring Anna Kendrick?

To be honest, this may be the most perfect casting of Cage ever. He IS Rayford Steele.

I saw the original "Left Behind" films, and they were okay, but sometimes it felt like the filmmakers didn't know what to do with the material. Apparently, Tim LeHaye & Jerry Jenkins felt the same, because they refused to allow that crew to do any more entries.

Nicolas Cage has expressed genuine interest in different world religions before, including Christianity. At this point, I'm cautiously optimistic. Rayford Steele is a complex character through the books, but doing them all would take over a decade, and Cage is already 50 years old. I'm worried that the series could stall out again, unless they do all of them in a row like "Harry Potter".

I'm fairly certain a movie has to be successful before even one sequel is considered. The odds aren't exactly in its favor, here.

The full Peter Jackson treatment. 3 hour movies, all filmed in one long shoot, with 3 1/2 hour extended editions. The end times will surely be upon us before we can get through them all.

Rowling granted the rights to the first four "Potter" books all at once, and the filming of the second one started before the first even came out.

There's only 16 of them, and the first three are prequels that occur before the Rapture. The main series chronicles 7 years across 12 books, with the 13th being set a few decades into Jesus' thousand-year Earthly reign.

It's not like there won't still be room for movies about the zombie apocalypse.

They could combine the major events in some of the books into the same film. For example, the first new film could end with Buck & Chloe's wedding, which occurs at the end of the second book, "Tribulation Force".

Now this could definitely become a 16 movie franchise.
