Forgive me Nick Jushchyshyn, I know you are a member of this forum, but I do not know your screen name on these forums. Anyway, I just stumbled upon your Difference Key Compositing in Ulead Media Studio Pro Tutorial , and I must say, I was blown away by it. It's brilliant. I applaud you. The reason I made this a public post, and not a PM, is because, if any of you are like me, you had NO IDEA this AWESOME tutorial existed. Was this message posted at another time, and I must have missed it?

    Awe, crap! They found me! 8-}

Thanks, for the very kind words Pixel, but it's really nothing too amazing.
Just a combination of ideas from tutorials I'd seen applied to MSP.
I originally created it in response to this thread back in August.

    Kohai - That's not fair.
You knew that from our meeting in Chicago ;) ... but yes, that's the girl I was talking about.
She was an extra in 12 Monkeys when they were filming in Philly.
She appears in the movie directly in front of Bruce Willis just after he gets through the airport security checkpoint during the climatic ending.

She's also the reason that Hidden Phantom is officially a union production.
I had to do a pile of SAG paperwork to keep her in the project, but it was well worth it.

    Anyway, thanks for noticing everybody.

    Have fun!

[EDIT: Oh, yeah. Pixel... I applaud you for taking the time to type out all 11 letters of my last name. Hope it didn't give you carpel tunnel problems. ;) ]

Ahhh, PadawanNick, I thought it was probably you. Anyway, great work, man. I was playing around with your approach to this type of compositing, and I find that in some instances it works even better than Primatte. This techinque would be especially useful if I could adapt it to work in Adobe After Effects. I'm sure there is a way to do it in After Effects. However, I do have Media Studio Pro, and I was doing some tests, and I got better results doing that, than I did with Primatte. Very sweet stuff. Anyway, if you could PM me next time you release a tutorial, that would be appreciated. I seem to be missing the threads that annouce new tutorials. I don't want to miss another cool tutorial like this one. I'm always interested in learning something new. Anyway thanks a million.

    No problem Pixel.

Check into old thread linked in my previous post.
One of the key inspirations for my tutorial is the first link posted in there.
It's BKG's tutorial on Difference masking in AE.

    Have fun.

Now stop writing tutorials and finish your movie!

I have just one question: How exactly did you get through 2nd grade with a name like that?!

    Kohai -
Now you're starting sound like DaftMaul. I've stopped PM'ing him since he keeps telling me the same thing in every reply ;)

    Comyn -
In kindergarden, I couldn't spell Nick! It always came out Nikc!
Some how, you learn these things when you have to.
My 5-year-old daughter can spell it. Sorta like a right of passage in my family.

    Have fun.

    Ah, foresooth I jest.

In fact, I've enjoyed your tutorials. I'm currently working on something expanding your home-bluescreen idea a bit. Stay tuned...

I guess I'm just mad that I'm Soooooo far behind everyone, and stuck in a mile deep plot hole I can't seem to fill.

So how do you pronounce Jushchyshyn? I forgot to ask when you were in town.

Sweet tutorial Nick! That's really awesome! I've never gotten results that good ever before in MSP. I still haven't tried it, but I will later. I'm still gonna keep using AE for compositing most things though. But this will really help me out since I use Ulead for most things besides sabers anyway.

Kids never realized it was his name. They always just thought their teachers were sneezing.

Yeah, I've got to get that Kaut project done!
Very close, there are just tons of other things going on keep getting in the way. I'm resisting the temtation of doing the choreography challenge to try and refocus on existing projects like this.

Can't wait to see the new bluescreen kohai!

As for the name ... well ... it pretty much sounds like a sneeze. ;)

    Have fun!
