    NIH Summer Outdoor Film Festival

Friday, August 13 they will be showing Star Wars! (Doesn't say which one, I am assuming A New Hope?) They will also be showing some other pretty nifty movies this year... We. Must. Go. :D

Two summers ago (when this FF was just starting up), a few of us attended the Raiders of the Lost Ark showing at this same film festival. :)

It is now on my calendar! We will go. If it wasn't going to be so hot, I'd say in costume. But it's August in DC.

I was also going to say in costume until I thought about costumes + August + outside = no fun.

Maybe we can have our shirts done by then... ;)

We tried to go to see LOTR: FOTR last summer, but it rained, so we stayed in the mall.

A little water should hurt no one.... except the wicked witch of the west of course!

I am SO there.. in costume if the heat doesn't prevent it... it'd be great to have the T-shirts done by then though!

Hahaha! This is true. So then TK can go in costume... :D The rest of us can stick with t-shirts.

Hey, if we go in those retro 70's Star Wars t-shirts with the iron-on applications, would that count as costumes? :D

Star Wars AND Back To The Future? Awesome. If only Raiders were in the line up for this year, too....... Well, at least there's Casablanca. :)

My wife and I were talking about going to this the other day. Maybe I'll see you guys there. I make it to Slackercon in February and then see you guys at this in August. That is about right for my track record for making GS events.

*trying to figure out the connection between Star Wars and NIH*

According to my own sources (which you really shouldn't trust btw) the folks at NIH have been poring over the Star Wars movies since Empire Strikes Back in the hopes to develop the world's first working Bacta Tank.

I'm guessing Pennsic - which, except for the camping part, always sounds so fun!

And everyone I've ever known at NIH is a big old nerd.

I don't know if you can exactly call it camping... since we bring beds, oriental rugs, and ice-cream makers... ;) It is fun, though. Maybe you can come to a day-long event in the autumn, Cinn. :D

And there's nothing wrong with nerds! Or we wouldn't all be here! :D

The day long events are good - if only as an excuse to make purty dresses!

And my science grades weren't great either - and don't get me started on math!

No, I was the "weird artsy theater geek." I am fascinated by science; I just can't grasp the more technical (read: Math) aspects. One of the things I love about Sci-fi (in general) is that if an author has REALLY done his/her homework, I actually learn something.

Science needs to be be translated into "artist speak" for me. :D You should have heard my neurobiologist buddy explaining retroviruses when I was researching my latest fanfic! Took her three hours, but I finally got it! Yay, me! :D

Bumping this thread, since it's about two weeks away.

We should start figuring out a plan for meeting up, because it's very difficult to find people there.
