Rumor: Enhanced Rogue Squadron trilogy due on Wii

Could Red Five be standing by for an assault on the Death Star Wii? The latest issue of EGM contains a rumor that LucasArts has licensed out its Rogue Squadron games â?? the orignal N64 title plus Rogue Leader and Rebel Strike for GCN â?? to an unnamed publisher that is updating their visuals and control schemes for Wii as we speak.

It's unlikely they'll do much at all to update the visuals of 2 & 3 (beyond maybe a few touches or memory/draw distance enhancements?) but getting to play the original again with the modern graphics and controls would be quite awesome.

And I'm throwing my hope onto the table now: Add in a new unlockable K-Wing please!!

    This would be awesome.
I want my jedi starfighter from ROTS, and they should also do a whole revamp of the ground based missions.

Another game I'd like to see included in this set is Star Wars Episode 1: Battle for Naboo, which is the same engine as rogue squadron except set during the events of episode 1. Not a bad storyline or a bad game at all. In fact, I thought it was really cool to see the story of what happens back on Naboo while the main characters are away, the formation of the resistance...etc.

Oh yeah...I forgot about that game, but it was pretty dam fun.
I wonder if we could throw in the Clone Wars as well? I loved that game, and any excuse to let loose with a gunship is good in my book!

Still, I'll be happy with what I can get.

Everybody buy this. No excuses. Buy it as soon as it hits store shelves. After you buy KotOR 3, BF 3, Clonewars LD, and Tfu, of course.

    I have 2 excuses.

    1. I don't have a Wii
    2. I don't like this style of flight combat game.

It's got nothing on the X-wing style games, but it's decent enough on a console. I could never, ever tolerate the PC versions, though.

Did the PC version of RS have any cut scene enhancements ala the SOTE PC port?

Very unlikely- Clone Wars was made by another developer, whereas Battle For Naboo was made by Factor 5, same as the Rogue trilogy.

I would much rather have a real sequel, on a system with graphics that don't look like crap.

It may not be HD graphics, but the Rogue series hold up pretty well graphically- IIRC, RS3 even had some effects that Factor 5 didn't think would have even been possible until this generation of consoles, so it was ahead of the curve.

I'd buy this BEFORE any of those except KOTOR 3 (if they ever make it - and only if it's not MMO crap).

Ahh...I wouldn't have guessed. Clone Wars had a very "Rouge Squadron" feel to it. Even if it was ground based.

Shame then....it as been far too long since a game let me fly a gunship. Well, technically BF2 did, but it wasn't in atmo and wasn't that good at fighting so the spirit wasn't there.

I would much rather have a real sequel
Agreed, but we take what we can get.

Pff...graphics hardly matter. Gameplay is where it is at.

I agree with MercenaryAce. I was much more excited to hear about the complex physics effects than the better-but-still-not-photorealistic graphics in TFU.

If this is true, then this is a bright day for Star Wars fans everywhere.

Rejoice. Let's party like it's a long time ago, on a planet named Endor.

Bf3 and and flight sims such as x-wing, and rouge leader are in the guter what the H gives! Seems as though lucas is concentrating on the kiddies at cartoon network! On the bright side TFUs is (after a year and a half of over hype)finally out of the way with meniocere reviews. Hopfulluy Lucas arts will start focusing on combat and flight sims when baby wars (clonewars TV show) hype dies down.

P.S. I love clonewars viecles and wepons, but hate its constant lightsader god-like gladiator combat!

    Get out your NES!
    Alas, I never had one.
But you know what was awesome...the sprites from FFT. Those were crisp and well animated.
