Goldeneye. F-Zero is perhaps the best Super NES game, but Goldeneye is perhaps the best video game ever.

As I said before, OoT without a doubt! Both are great games, but the scope of OoT and it's extensive environment sucked me in.

And I can't bring my socks out to vote for this one, can I?

ALTTP had a much larger scale to it, had a more involving story, better musical themes (Dark World Overworld Theme rules all!),and just a better overall sense of adventure and mood.

And while free-form in nature like all the Zelda games, there was never a sense of confusion over what you had to do next in ALTTP. There are large chunks of gameplay time in OOT when you just have no clue what your supposed to do next, unless you have access to a player's guide or something (example: trying to access the Shadow Temple, you need that fire-arrow thing, but it's an item you haven't come across yet in the game and wouldn't know about it's existence or how to achieve it unless you found out somewhere else).

Also, OOT messed up the Imprisoning War story setup from ALTTP with it's lazy plotting towards the later half of the game.

Now, don't get me wrong, OOT *IS* a great game. It established one of the, if not the, best 3D 3rd person control setup, and has amazing graphics. I just think too many people look at the better graphics and instantly think because of that, it has to be better than ALTTP.

OoT is definitely the winner here, the nostalgia of Link to the Past is overwhelming, but in a field of stand outs (N64) OoT really raised a benchmark set by M64...

Ocarina of Time.

This is, in fact, my favorite game of all time. It consumed me. And, I still listen to the music today! ALttP is great too, but I just can't deny OoT. Simply amazing game.

Good observation...a pitty this matchup couldn't have be saved until the final-final round, for surely the runner up from this match (regardless who the winner is) deserves the number 2 spot, right? :
