Hmm, this is quite a weird request, and I'm not sure it fits in this forum, but I think it's the best for this, though.

Does any of you guys know which font is used on the NJO books covers ?

Is it a LFL proprietary font, or can I find it somewhere else on the net ?

I'm guessing proprietary. I filtered through my sans-serif fonts and didn't see any likely matches (and I've got a few).

And I once tried to analyze it with Identafont, and didn't come up with anything. But we've seen a lot of letters from it... What would we lack to make our own? Q and Z I think, what else?

Well, I've looked at several fonts, but I can't find a corresponding one. I tried to find a match for the very distinctive N, but to no avail. :(

Ran across What the Font? and ref'ed TUF's cover from TOS. No direct match there, either.

Well, that's too bad. At least I've learned about those font recognizers. That's pretty handy. I didn't know it existed. :)

I'm pretty sure it's called "Serpentine". You can find it online, but it has to be purchased.

Hmmm... Looks like it indeed. Too bad you must pay for it... :( Plus, it's horribly expensive for a font... [face_mischief]

EDIT : Can we pretend this thread never existed, hmm ?

I'm sure the boards at SW.com would be able to give you confirmation on it :)

What is the font size and style of the words inside the books? (Both hardcover and paperback.) If anyone knows, that would be great, because I'm interested to know.

    no problem, princexizor

as for the innards, it looks like palatino linotype, but i'm not sure. can somebody scan a page of their njo book for me? it'd be easier for me to match

It can be a challenging font type to read. Particularly on the Balance Point back summary.

You'll notice they standardised how NJO books look midway throught he series. From SBS they all have like presentations; while Dark Tide, AOC, BP and EOV were unique in appearance.

The standardization of the books post-SbS annoyed me. I really liked the idea that each story arc within the series had its own individual look.

Of course, if we view all the books between SbS and DW as a single arc instead of two solo stories (no pun intended :p) framing the EL duology, then we may get back to the nonstandard idea - my books are at home, but IIRC, the FH spines were different. Anyone have a scan of the TFP spine yet?

"I'm pretty sure it's called "Serpentine". You can find it online, but it has to be purchased."

You can easily find knockoffs online; it's the same font used for Babylon 5 logo.

(That's only the font used for the titles, BTW; the back cover text used on paperbacks that someone mentioned is a different font. But Serpentine is used for the brief blurbs on the backs of the hardcovers.)

"What is the font size and style of the words inside the books? (Both hardcover and paperback.) If anyone knows, that would be great, because I'm interested to know."

I believe the hardcovers say what font was used on the copyright page. The paperbacks use a member of the Times family.

"IIRC, the FH spines were different."

    They were.

"Anyone have a scan of the TFP spine yet?"

I don't have a scan (my copy's in the mail), but from what I remember from looking at it earlier today, I belive that it's similar to the Edge of Victory spines (no surprise there). I could be wrong, though.
