woop, I have been known to ban people for calling me a Nazi. You want to be next?
"If I don't see it, it's not illegal!" --Homer Simpson
But seriously, if someone is doing something illegal, clandestinely, in a way that doesn't hurt anyone, does it really matter?
I've been here for a long time. I've heard the argument ad nauseum regarding this being "YOUR" board, so you can administrate it however you like.
I would like to comment, however, that it shouldn't be wrong to DISCUSS the bootlegs. Heck, don't you think it's better for us to try to convince others NOT to watch the bootlegs, rather than not talk about them at all?
Frankly, and correct me if I am wrong here, just knocking off all discussion about the bootlegs seems to me to be all about making the mods' job easier, rather than eliminating the problem.
I just think we should be allowed, somewhere in the forum, to convince others not to download, and thereby perpetuate, the ILLEGAL bootleg versions of AOTC. As a last note, doesn't it say something that I worry that I could be banned for having an opposing opinion? Heck, maybe we have the same opinion, I'm just reading things wrong. Could somebody help me here?
Just for the record, I'm not advocating actually using bootlegs. I believe the only way to watch the movie is in the theatre, but there really is no need for the Mods to be so "Nazi-like," (pardon the term) about the subject.
Bib, I strongly suggest that you drop it.
are you a teacher or something in real life?
why give people a thread where bootleging can be dicussed. It is all pointless. Just wait 6 more days. Controll, controll, you must leatn controll
OK, consider it dropped, then. It's just that I don't like the concept of seemingly arbitrary rules being put in place; I always want to know the reasoning behind said ruling.
Discusion leads to association, association leads to becoming an accomplice.
Which then leads to illegal activities.
Oh please, give me a break. It isn't like the bootleg is something no one has seen. Hell thousands have already seen it. It isn't going to hurt Lucasfilm in any way.
well if you're all so paranoid, why don't you just make it impossible to link to other sites until after the movuie comes out
So, in order to keep this at the top, I thought I would start a list of the things I like about Stars War:
1. It's really neat
Feel free to add you own!
Hey Jas...since ANY further discussion of bootlegs is prohibited, isn't this thread a little counterproductive?
2. There's cool spase ships
woop: careful....thin ice.....breaking......
It's amazing what some of you folks take so darned literally.
The next person I see discussing this subject will be banned.
Now, since every person on this thread hasn't been banned as of yet, doesn't that imply that he's overstating the case just a tad?
OK, let's put it this way. If any illegal activity occurs on these forums, TheForce.Net can be liable as an accomplice, since they provided the venue where the illegal activity took place. So, we can't allow it. Satisfied?
Camels back, the straw broke..
Yeah, but how do we know we haven't been banned?
3. Dark Vader's costume is awesome!
4. Yoda's laugh
You'd be surprised Darth Core Dump. I've seen it and almost felt the stung of a ban once. (something minor)
And there's all sorts of lovely bans to choose from: (Let's hope we don't meet any of them)
-24 hour bans
-one week bans
-permanent bans (yikes!)
Gee Griff...I'm not sure...
Oh, what the hell...give me a plus one.
OK, I can see that the word "discussion" is a little too broad. Let's say that anyone who requests or provides links to bootlegs, or who argues in favor of bootlegs, or who advocates or facilitates the receiving or distribution of bootlegs, will be banned. Is that better?
5. SLJ gets to be a bad @$$
6. Bootleg, i mean, Slave Girl Outfits
