I know it's a dumb phrase, it's just that it's so obvious that I'm surprised no one's used it yet.

Patience, Jasman. All of us who are living in Europe will be able to give the American fans a whole flood of reviews before you go and see it yourself.

This is scary stuff man. I'm crapping in my pants over here (and in the AOTC fart jokes thread too, but that's another matter entirely). This is almost as bad as that episode of "What's Happening?" where Rerun gets caught bootlegging a tape of the Dooby Brothers. Man, I wouldn't want to be Rerun just then...

    Jasman,
Thanks for creating this thread. I'm glad to see the mods are taking this seriously.

We all respect Lucas, and we should show that respect by seeing the movie the way he wants us to, in a theater (preferrably digital if possible). Bootlegs never do the picture justice. There is a reason GL spent so much money having ILM get all of the computer generated effects to look perfect. If he wanted you to see it on a computer screen, he wouldn't have put so much time, money and effort into it.

That's ironic, YodaJeff, since most of this movie was MADE on a computer screen. :D

But I agree. The last thing in the world I would want would be for my first experience of AOTC to be a fuzzy little picture on my computer.

    Jasman,

On another topic: I don't know if you guys checked out the recent postings on the "Release" thread. What do you admins think about the ideas for "official" or non-official opening threads there?

Also, about legality issues: is it too late to restructure the TFN JC boards to have legal "pop-up click wrap agreements" from the users re: bootlegs and other illegal activity? You could ask everyone to agree to terms of usage up front instead of having it be just a fixed link? (took a class on intellectual property contracts - sorry.)

On yet another note: 'been thinking of trying to tie together all the "is Palpatine Sidious" questions that are pouring in, and making one giant Sith/Palpatine Post with links to old threads from march, etc (organize questions by topics, take quotes from older members on the original questions(i.e., can't sense the dark side, who trained maul, why doesn't yoda know, are p and s identical clones, what's a sith holocron etc...) Be glad to send you an edited version with the links to see if it would suffice as the starting Sith or Sidious Link.

    What say you?
    thanks, later,
    winnie vader

but, but, but bootlegs will help you decide if its a waste of money to go pay $10 to see it at an IMAX or a DLP!

oh, and whoever said you're not a Star Wars fan if you view a bootleg, I have one thing to say to you:

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

*can feel the ban coming from the MODs...*

Copies of 'Star Wars' Sequel Online
Fri May 10, 4:16 PM ET

A week before its scheduled release, illegal copies of "Star Wars:
Episode II ? Attack of the Clones" are already appearing on the
    Internet.

One copy of the movie making the rounds
online appears to have been recorded at a
    private showing, using a tripod-mounted
digital camcorder pointed at the screen, the
    Los Angeles Times reported Friday.
Another copy apparently used a more
sophisticated version of the same technique.

Both were distributed via Internet Relay
Chat, a computer protocol that allows users
to copy files at high speed from other
    computers on different networks.

Locating the files is difficult for the casual
    computer user and downloading is
    extremely time-consuming for most
machines. Meanwhile, the poor quality of
the bootlegged footage makes it unlikely
there will be any impact on the movie's
    box-office gross when "Clones" debuts
    Thursday.

Industry observers said movie piracy may hurt videotape and DVD
revenues when those more distinct formats become available to
    duplicators.

Lucasfilm Ltd., which produced the movie, said it was submitting the
piracy report to the Motion Picture Association of America for an
investigation. If the trade organization identifies whoever is
responsible, the company plans to prosecute, Lucasfilm spokeswoman
    Jeanne Cole said.

"It's an extremely serious threat," said Jean Murrell Adams, head of
the litigation department at DreamWorks SKG. "I'm not surprised that
it's on the Internet. I talk to pirates because I want to find out why
they're doing this. And what I've been told is that they were eagerly
anticipating who would be first to do this. It's a challenge for them."

The previous "Star Wars" installment, "Episode I ? The Phantom
Menace," also was available online before its official release in May
1999. The current blockbuster "Spider-Man" appeared on the Internet
a day before its official premiere.

Is anyone else in school being continually pestered by EVERYONE in their school about whether or not you are going to see a midnight screening? Also, people have started a little box for all their star wars questions and they are saying i HAVE to answer them. Like its my civic duty. Pretty cool civic duty but...

Wicket1138 gives a good example of why reviews aren't worth the paper their scrawled on.
