Before - Legends NOMINATED FOR WINTER 2003 FANFIC CONTEST: Of Crushes and Denials - A Humor/Romance story

(Qui-Gon settles down on the sofa in the Jinn/Kenobi quarters with a newspaper in his hand. Obi-Wan comes out of his room.)

Obi-Wan: Master, Master!

(His Master responds, rolling his eyes)

Qui-Gon: What is it?
Obi-Wan: Eileen Paulo has just passed her test for the Jedi Knight level!
Qui-Gon: That's good news.
Obi-Wan: But Master! That's not it! She's having a party in two days to celebrate.
Qui-Gon: What's that gotta do with us?
Obi-Wan: Master, she had invited us.
Qui-Gon: What?!
Obi-Wan: Calm down! Yes, you did not hear me wrong. Eileen invited us to her Celebration Banquet & Dance.
Qui-Gon: Dance?
Obi-Wan: Yup.
Qui-Gon: But I haven't danced for like - what, 15 years?
Obi-Wan: I really, really, really, want to go, Master.
Qui-Gon: Okay, but does it say anything about us having to find a dance partner?
Obi-Wan: Uh...yes...
Qui-Gon: Forget it, I ain't going.
Obi-Wan: Why???
Qui-Gon: For your info, Obi-Wan, I'm almost forty-five. I will have a hard time finding a date.
Obi-Wan: Aw, c'mon, Master. You will find a date at the end.
Qui-Gon: Prove it.
Obi-Wan: Well let's see...

(He pretends to be thinking)

Obi-Wan: Well, Padawan Laina Leopald seems to have a crush on you, Master. I overheard her confessing it to her friends.

(Qui-Gon looks shocked)

Qui-Gon: Did she blow her brains out when she got injured during her last quest to Embardo?
Obi-Wan: Not that I know of.
Qui-Gon: But I can't possibly be her date for the party! I am old enough to be her father and for Force's sake, she's only your age.
Obi-Wan: Master, I'm 16. She's turning 20 in two months.
Qui-Gon: Still...
Obi-Wan: Either take her as your date or be the only one not going to the party.
Qui-Gon: Obi-Wan, if I'm not going, you're staying too.
Obi-Wan: Am not.
Qui-Gon: Are too.
Obi-Wan: Temple rules say that when a Padawan is over the age of 15, they are allowed to make their own decisions.
Qui-Gon: But they can't avoid a direct order from their Master, can they?
Obi-Wan: No, but they can't avoid any invitations from an older Jedi either.

(Qui-Gon sighs)

Qui-Gon: I'll consider, but to me, Laina is still way too young.

(Obi-Wan is walking down the Jedi Temple hallways with his Philosophy books tucked under his arm when he sees Laina. She is a beautiful young Padawan, with long brown hair pulled into a ponytail and a strand of her hair is braided into the traditional Learner braid. He quickly creeps to behind a wall just next to Laina and her friends. Obi-Wan eavesdrops on their conversation.)

Laina: Oh, I soooooo want to go to the banquet with Master Qui-Gon Jinn.
Dana: You're so dreaming, Laina.
Fanni: You can't blame her, Dana. After all, Master Jinn is awfully handsome.

(Dana rolls her eyes)

Dana: You guys are chasing a useless dream. Qui-Gon won't ask you guys out.
Laina: We'll see.
Dana: This is going so wrong.

(Obi-Wan, technically laughing out loud, comes out of his hiding spot)

Obi-Wan: You want to ask my Master out for the party, Laina?
Laina: (looking shocked) How do you know?
Obi-Wan: Half the Temple knows already. Besides, it's not my fault you were saying it out loud.
Laina: (blushing) All right, I admit it. I like your Master.
Obi-Wan: You just say that to him and I can be sure he'll ask you out to the dance.
Laina: (skeptical) Really...
Obi-Wan: I am not lying. I don't lie. Jedi don't lie.
Laina: Okay, okay. I trust your judgment.
Obi-Wan: Good.
Laina: Well I gotta go take my Astrology class.
Obi-Wan: I'll go back to tell Master and I'll arrange for you guys to meet.
Laina: That fast?!
Obi-Wan: Yeah...do you have a problem with it, Laina?
Laina: Well, er, no...
Obi-Wan: Then it's settled! Tonight at eight o'clock in the Room of Thousand Springs. Bye!

(He walks away, whistling.)

Dana: Wow...h

 

VERY HILARIOUS!!! LOL! Some parts are just funny!

Loved the toddlers. Good job, luvqui-gon_gurl!

 

Hehe, this is a funny story, especially when Obi-Wan accidently fires the shell at Qui-Gon!

Will there be a sequel?! *hopeful look*

As for the sequel, jedi_kenobi80 (too lazy to put in the alternate CAPS...), I might consider that. But first I need more people to post their thoughts.

I will of course make a sequel! Please describe what you want to see in the next fiction though...

BTW, Qui's like about 40 in this story.

 

Perhaps something with Obiwan falling in love with someone who does not just fall over him right away. Maybe with him still with qui but a few years down the road.

 

Yeah...hmmm...make obi fall in love with that dana girl and then they get bonded and then qui's kids are still annoying them.
