Anyone think it might be that Nihilus isn't speaking gibberish (especially since Sion and his apprentice can understand him fine) but he's just speaking Sith?

It certainly sounds like what I imagine Sith to speak.

The holocrons in Atris's meditation chamber seemed to be speaking the same thing...

I've heard that its actually backwards Basic, though I haven't seen it confirmed.

Anyone have a soundbite of his?

It sounds like it's on a deeper level then our range of voices. I've always thought its an ancient sith dialect boosted by the Dark Side of the Force. I mean a voice can go a long way to break someone's will. But even if you can't understand it I think that the language is so fueled by the Dark Side that people get the general jist...like "your going to die now."

    :p

Thats my thoughts on it though.

P.S. but remember that our friend Nil isn't exactly Human by their standards now.

I thought the whole point of his garbled speech is he's lost his mind and is no long comprehensible save through the Force?

Yeah, that was the point... he can communicate, but only at a guttural level, almost like an animal.

That doesn't seem to be the case in most of his encounters though.

It's both - It's the language the Sith Holocrons speak in the game, but the RL people who designed it obviously had the incomprensible, animalistic qualities in mind when the did so.

Interesting choice of words. Who's "they"? By whose standards is he human?

I'd love to see the Sith [species] that actually spoke this language, and/or some Sithspawn that speak it. Bet they'd be freaky

If I was going to retcon it it would be to either the Kar VAstor force imprinted speech or the Ziost knot work, sith inpregnation of sound/sight with meaning.

Hmmm... [face_thinking] how animalistic were the Sith species?

Wait, did some checking on Wookieepedia. I forgot that Jensaarai is actually a Sith word, as is Massassi, Saarai-kaar, etc. Nihilus doesn't sound like he's saying stuff remotely like this, so I'm thinking he's gone guttural, or his species don't have human vocal cords like Gammoreans or Wookiees.

Possibly something similar to Kar Vastor's speech...

Is it me, or did he sound like he was singing some times while talking?

This is the only thing that really irked me about his voice....

Nihilus was human. Of course, he's changed a lot since those days, but I don't think what he became could be described as a "species"... or could it? [face_thinking]
