one perk of virgin union sq is that if i'm still in university housing in the fall, i'll be three blocks away, thereby making showers and rainstorms a lot easier...

do you crazy brits have all-region dvd players, or are you really that eager to come hang out with a bunch of lunatics on a freezing cold patch of sidewalk?

(incidentally, the wind gets going pretty good on broadway below union square. we line-sitters seem to be made to suffer! )

 

Well, Lauren. I don't know about the other Brits here, but I have a region free player.

Basically, I bought it so I could import American DVD's because British ones (Region 2) lack a lot of the extras that American region 1 discs have. Plus, our films are also cut -- HEADBUTT REMOVED FROM THE BRITISH PRINT OF AOTC! Need I say more? (You should see how they butchered the DVD of The Matrix -- That's just evil!)

Somehow I don't think I will be buying the British version of the disc... I might go for the Australian (Region 4) version -- but then again, I'm not buying the DVD's. I'm still waiting for the UBER-COOL box set Lucas keeps promising us!

Half of my collection is also American, so I needed something to play them on...

I bought my player online, so I got it quite cheap; combine that with the region free ability, and the fact that I can make perfect VHS copies, and you can see why it was a good purchase!

As for being crazy enough to line up on freezing sidewalks, yes, I suppose we do seem to be made to suffer -- It's our lot in life!

 

Union Square works for me as well. Afterwards we could head over to TRU or Forbidden Planet.
