Obi Wan = Indiana Jones

I was watching Raiders of the Lost Ark" over the weekend and something
tickled me. One of my favorite Indy moments is the infamous
sword to a gunfight scene in the desert village where Indy shoots
the sword twirling guy rather than fight him.

That scene so reminds me of Obi Wan on Utupau when he dispatches
the Magnaguards twirling their force pikes at him by dropping the
big chunk of ceiling on them.

Anyone else see this link? Or have I gone completely bonky?

Or any other Obi Wan/Indy paralles?

 

I didn't refer it to Indiana but it kinda does seem like the same thing.

 

Thats definitely my favourite Indy moment. I can see the similarities between the situations, but I really wouldn't make the connection between the two characters.

 

ah, Indy is kind of weird, and Obi-Wan is cool. IMO!!!!!!

 

Obi-Wan's "Oh not good!" when he kicks Jango over the ledge is definitely a Indy moment.

When I first heard how grievoud died I imagined it like hat Indy moment

 

Yeah, Obi-wan totally remindes me of Indiana Jones, except minus the edge.

 

Not just physical stuff, but situaionally, Indy keeps getting in situations that
are over his head and really almost by luck gets out of them.
Obi Wan lives most of his life this way.
I'm not contending that they are the same character.
I do contend that they tickle many of the same parts while watching the
disparate films.

That's funny, cos in AOTC, he reminded me of James Bond (who Indy is based on). The whole investigation thing, coupled with the asteroid belt scene (which mirrors the opening of Octopussy, for you Bond fans) really did it for me. Also, the centipedes going into Padme's bed directly mirrors a scene in the Dr No novel, as well as the movie.

 

I noticed it too! I thought he had the Indy similarity in the Grievous duel where Grievous is doing his little twirly spiel with his lightsabers. I was totally expecting Obi to whip out a blaster and send that tubercular hunk of junk to Kingdom Come. OK, that happened a bit later but the parallel is still there.

Who else besides me thinks that Ewan McGregor is by far the next James Bond? The whole elevator scene in the beginning of Ep 3, the "so uncivilized" (More Alec than Sean, I grant you, but still) with the blaster, and, obviously, the hotness, convinced me. Also, if you see Down With Love you'll see he's good with the ladies. Unfortunately, I read an interview with him where he said he wouldn't do James Bond :-(, but one can dream...

 

I felt the same way, the very first time that i saw ROTS. Not only does Obi Wan kill Grievous's guards in much the same way that Indy killed the guy with the sword, but I was also reminded of Raiders during Obi and Greivous's hand to hand fight. This scene totally reminded me of the scene where Indy fights the huge German near a plane. Obi and Indy, always gettin into trouble...

 

Obi-Wan certainly goes through the most adventures.

the most Obi-Wan moment i think is the beginning of AOTC when he leaped throught the window and grabbed on the the assassin droid.

 

I've always felt that the obi scene that reminded me the most of Indiana Jones was the chase through the tunnels in Episode III were Obi is riding his Boga and Grevious is riding his strange bike thing. The first time I saw that scene I started thinking about the scene from The Temple Of Doom (Indy II) were there is this great chase through the mining tunnels.

 

i think Lucas made young Obi-wans charcter simliar to Indiana to! The way Obi-wan beats his foes and gets out of bad situations and such. I noticed this since i saw ROTS. I thought i was the only one who noticed it.
