Okay it looks very good, but you should try to get the neck part ob the outer tunic higher. Cause if you look at the pics that are arround from obi-wan you see that his neck goes far up and is very stiff.

    But anyway it looks good

Well, I know he has some sort of triple layer effect on his collar, but I stuck with a standard undertunic. I don't know the exact type of fabric, but it has some stretch to it, and it's a common material.

The pattern is much like any tunic, except the sleeves are shortened to wrap on the arms as well as the wrists. Extend the arm length a big past the wrists. At the overlapping section in front, there is a small hook that attaches to the other flap, so the tunic stays tight and fitting.

Would anyone want to see pictures of someone wearing the costume, for a better idea of how it looks?

Fabric with a strech part is quite likely.
I guess if you want to have the sleeves tight and still want to get your hand through, strech could be usefull ;)
I found out, that the three-layer colar is completely sewn on the rest of the tunic. So you could still add the colar to the tunic if you want.

What we did about the tabbarts (for the Anakin costume) to have them fit better:
Each tabbart consits of four parts. Sewn together like shown in the (quite crappy, sorry) pic below.
It simply looks nicer. I imagine it could be easier to have the tabbarts overlap like the Obi-Wan ones this way.
It's a bit more work but it's defenitly worth it.

    And I love pics :D ;)

Alright, I took a few shots today. I had no one to help me take the pictures so care with me. :)

So here is how the inner tunic is set up. A small hook to keep it in place, which works very well for me.

    [image=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v358/DavidAdametz/InnerTunic.jpg]

The next few pictures are what I have done/in progress of the costume. Ignore the brown sash, it was all I had at the moment.

Once again, a major work in progress. There is major bulk in the outfit that is missing as well as my ability to LOOK like Obi-Wan, hah. I guess it's going to transform into something along the lines of a standard Jedi. I really like how this material flows though. Once I get the tabbards attached, it will withstand much more movement without becoming cluttered.

Hey, do you know that you look like.... okay told you that 10 times now :D

But hey looks good so far. I would maybe line the inside of the outer tunic. Maybe it is to transparent this way

Yeah there is definitely some transparency there, mainly because I am using a one layer outer tunic, but I am working on adding something under. It gets hot though, hehe.

If you line it with a shiney silk it will help and make it more accurate ;)

No, I didn't have to do any dyeing. It looks a little white in the pictures. It's actually very much closer to Obi-Wans light coffee color in person. Unfortunately I ran short of fabric to make an obi, so I've been going back to the store, only to never see that fabric since, hehe.

I might do more pictures later, if anyone is interested.

    nice effect!
ever considered actually weathering your costume? I mean.. once it's finished of course.. lol

you should post more pics, your costume looks awesome!

about the belt, you should definetely try making your own, I used faux leather for mine and it looks like real leather when you wear it.

i agree, making the belt isn't very hard at all. considering, especially, that most of the supplies (2.25-2.5" belt blanks, .75" belt blanks, dye, finish, rivets, post rivets, etc) can all be bought from most leather stores (like Tandy). All you need is a good buckle replica. The construction isn't that crazy that it can't be done by a relative novice.

I might be breaking the rules of this thread here but I hope I can ask this question:

For those that might want to go Master/Youngling (me and my 19 month old son) - and do not have the time to create their own costumes, what respectable avenues are available for a costume purchase? I've been to ebay several times and while some offer robes, belts, boots, they don't offer the whole kit and kaboodle. Are there respectable venders out there that would make a costume?

    Thoughts?

    Thanks a bunch!

What you will find, is that in costumeing you have to buy peice by peice from other vendors. Search out a good leather maker for the belt, and boot and good seamsters for the tunics (PM me for a possible source on that) etc.
