Lit Obscure EU things you'd include in a novel if you could

I just felt like asking that question: what are the obscure EU things (characters, locations, events, or whatever) you'd include in a SW novel if you had the opportunity to write one?

These are but a few of mine:
* Characters from Star Wars Demolition, particularly General Otto and Wade Vox.
* The "true" Bendu monks (those who did not join the Je'daii Order and remained faithful to their original beliefs).
* Charal, Witch-Queen of Endor. Enough said.
* Ackmena, because everything is better with Bea Arthur.
* The fftssfft, or "dandelion warriors" from the Ewoks animated series.
* More Alderaan royalty. Explain what a Viceroy does, why Breha is Queen if the Palace belongs to her husband. Explain the Ascendancy Contention once and for all. Rehabilitate Bail Organa's father, who was originally mentioned as the one of became Viceroy at the end of the contention. Explain how and when Breha died. What about Bail Organa's discovery of planet Isis?
* Sith mythology: who were those "immortal gods of the Sith" by which Darth Vader would sometimes swear?
* More Jorus C'baoth timeline. Too few revamped dates have been given.
* Whatever became of the Ood Bnar's sapling?
* The bell-shaped "Huttian ship" used by Zorba the Hutt: which model, which class? Tech info, please.

 

Force demons, nightmare demons, Mnggal-Mnggal, Darth Glovoc, the Order of the Terrible Glare, the Guild of Vindicators, Bataal Bandu, Danielle Kieran, the Order of the Silver Jedi, the Nocturno, Tel Angor, Roni von Wasaki

 

Seyugi Dervishes.

 

All of them.

 

Lemme see...

• Ailon Nova Guard. Because Mandos are overexposed as all hell and didn't used to be the *only* non-FS fighters in the galaxy worth beans.
• Genoharadan. I really liked their KOTOR appearance, and they would be a more interesting challenge with their "hiding in plain sight" shtick.
• Columi. I think Denning was onto something with Columi villains in Crucible, although he really didn't use them to their potential. Still, they're an ancient and extremely intelligent species that are nowhere close to being humanoid, which keeps things interesting.
• Grand Admiral Grant. Still alive, and you can't say it wouldn't be cool to see a story where he comes out of retirement to fight the Vong.
• Streen. He was actually vaguely significant during the Bantam run, and we need more diversity in our Jedi Masters, so by all means, someone bring him back!
• High Galactic. Everything's more dramatic with Faux Latin, am I right?
• Torpedo Spheres. Just because.
• Ponc Gavrisom. Sane, non-corrupt politicians are at a premium these days.

I'll try and think of some more when I have time - this is just a quick list.

How did I forget my favorite ISD ever?

We did get a fairly tasteful Aayla Secura already. It's not impossible.

 

Many years ago when I read the NJO, I was stupid and thought Chelch Dravvad would be someone important. He kept just... showing up. And Luke kept staring at him in one scene. And even in the scenes where only a few Senators were present, he would be the one there always just chilling in the background. The one that never said anything. So I kept waiting for some dramatic plot twist from that guy.

Still waiting.


If not Chelch, Koorivar Fusiliers. Oooo wait I got it -- a book about Chelch getting trapped inside the Book of Boolmide and having to confront the Albino Cyclops, whereby he is subsequently rescued by Koorivar Fusiliers. There will be a lot of butkicking interspersed with Chelch undergoing some sort of quasi-spiritual epiphany regarding his utterly meaningless existence after the NJO.

If it were set during the Rebellion or early New Republic era, General Ristt would lead a fleet battle, and Captain Kazan of the RS Revenge would be in his fleet.

But most importantly --- characters who aren't straight white Human males.

 

Dorneans, Khil, bivalva contemplativa, more truly "alien" viewpoints...
also Hiram Drayson and the roster of NR officials and military people from BFC,
and Niles Ferrier. Niles Ferrier!

Actually my first SW fanfic started with Hiram Drayson and Talon Karrde teaming up to figure out what Rik Duel and Niles Ferrier were up to. (Hunting down Edi Pallopides clones for Admiral Screed, as it turned out.) That was fun.

 

Most awesome tuckerization ever. And not a particularly nice one at that -- tyrannical Diktat of the Corellian system, wasn't he?

EDIT: ALSO I just remembered, the various battles at Mirgoshir during the clone wars. They bring up that planet a million times and according to wookieepedia theres like 5 major battles there AND WE KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE PLANET OR WHY ITS IMPORTANT.

 

Sev'Rance Tann was horribly underexploited IMHO.

Obscure you ask? Include in a novel? Well, there is a tailor made story already existing that Force willing will see the light of day...

ACKBAR VS. PELLAEON!!!

Ackbar leading the Third and Fifth Fleets from the bridge of the SSD Guardian, facing off against Admiral Pellaeon and a fleet consisting of warships up to and including the SSD's Megador and Dominion. The massive series of fleet brawls that reduced Pellaeon's Remnant to a mere eight sectors and 200 hundred Star Destroyers and was last major engagement of the Galactic Civil War.

Throw in Home One (cause thanks to the Fact Files we know Ackbar used her up until his retirement), MC90 Star Cruisers, Nebula-class Star Destroyers and the rest of the New Class, Rogue Squadron, General Wedge Antilles, and a bunch of other awesome name drops and you have the epic of the century.
