I'm surrounded by houses where I live. If I saw a great big fire, I'd probably be screwed and we wouldn't be having this conversation. :p

    Still here

Someone is now claiming March 31st 2013 because that's when the second Mayan calendar ends.

The obsession with the End of the World will never truly end will it?

*goes back to a different sort of panicking - last minute holiday shopping*

Is there a particular reason we should think the second Mayan calendar has anything to do with the end of the world since it turned out the first one didn't?

The world seems a more boring place without any Doomsday looming in the future. :(

While cleaning out my garage I found an old Newsweek magazine from 1997 with Y2K predictions in it. They were interesting from an "OMG the sky is falling!" perspective, and it's hilarious how many people actually stockpiled canned goods and ammo.

Amazing how all apocalypses get rescheduled. I say if the world ends, I won't care because I won't be here to see it, and if it doesn't, there will be another prediction to laugh at. Win-win.

Inorite? Even my ex got into that one wholeheartedly. Lots of water and canned food, looking for a generator and all. You know, now that I look back, I should have seen those as warning signs.

Most likely not. The first one was a fail

Exactly 6 months later, it has begun. For no other explanation accounts for BBC's headlines this morning.

Apparently Wahlberg watched either Lord of the Rings or Wizard of Oz and knows not to piss off the trees.

Especially trees who do quantum physics.

Nothing to worry about, folks. I looked it up, and all it means is that plants just seem to know how to save enough energy to avoid starvation.

So no scenario from a crappy M. Night Shyamalan movie coming to life.
