I.E., CA OCSWS Charity Event

The OCSWS will be entering a team and participating in the American Cancer Society - Relay for Life in the city of Fullerton We currently have a team of 12 members walking in this 24hr event, and we have currently raised 1,583.00 so far for this charity.

We will be holding 2 fundraisers on the Saturday of the event in order to raise more money the day of.

The first one is a raffle of 4 prize baskets which we have being sponsored by various collectable shops and comic shops from around OC. All of the money from the raffle will be going to the Relay for Life charity.

The Second fundraiser is what we need the help with. We want to offer photo ops with costumed fans. Currently we only have 3 members who have costumes and any of them may be walking during the time we will be conducting this event. The cost for pics will be 1.00 . We have already told the other teams about this event, and they are very excited. There will be lots of kiddies there wanting pics I'm sure.

The Plan:

Date: Sat. June 28th
Time: 7pm - 9pm Arriving at 6:30 to get dressed.

The reason for choosing this time was because of the possibility of very hot temperatures in the earlier part of the day. I know how warm my Jedi robes are, and in the heat it would be terrible, and anyone wearing armor would be even worse off.

Oh almost forgot. There will be many activities taking place that day. You are more than welcome to come down and partake in them. One of them being a casino night as well.

So if any of you are willing to help out please let me know by posting here in this thread. If you need any additional info please shoot me a PM. Also for those who are interested and coming to the beach party this Saturday let me know and I'll be happy to give you any additional details needed.

In addition here are the directions for this event.

Take the I-15 Northbound to the 91FWY Westbound. From the 91 FWY take the Lemon St exit. Make a right onto Lemon St. Continue on Lemon St for 2-3 miles. Fullerton High School will be located on the left hand side of the street.

There should be signs posted for event parking so you'll have to look for them. In the case there are no signs posted find parking where you can at the high school.

Once you have found parking make your way to the high school track area. From there you will need to find the OCSWS campsite. Just look for our banner.

I will post an update with my pager number prior to the event. If you are interested in helping us then please post here and let us know. SDSWS will be coming up to help us out as well. We also should have some members from the 501st and RL with us also.

 

Well I?m there! Anyone who does want to go to this I have room in the Falcon.
And being that most of you don?t have costumes, I am sure its still cool for you to come and it still will be fun. I highly encourage this especially if you didn?t make it to the beach party! gurrrrrr (no not the droid, I mean gurrr as in mad gurrrrr) We can all go out to eat that night as well.

 

Can you bring R2? I mean it just wouldn't be the same without him.

And yes, evenif you do not have a costume there will be things going on all day if you want to come early. It is going to be alot of fun. Perhaps another saber duel will breakout. . At least this time we will have parksabers.

 

I hope you do come out, Brandon! I'd love to have you teach me some of your lightsaber moves. I was very impressed watching you duel at the Beach Party!

Plus, it would be cool to have lots of Jedi there in the evening with glowing lightsabers.

Of cores R2 will be there! O yeah and Lori that would be sweet, I was thinking that if we are going to be using park sabers (and blades that are not going to retracted when the stabbing/killing blow is made) for safety reasons (and (as far as park sabers go) the fact that if you don?t have something prepared you look kind of? well? not Jedi like I should say) We should all get together a little bit earlier in the day and cerograph something with a partner. So that night when we have a group of ?on lookers? the sabers will do more then just light up. Saber Sparing is fun and all, but nothing looks and fells more like being a Jedi then a choreographed Lightsaber battle.

I completely agree. Getting something prepared before hand is a good idea.

 

it helps prevent injury by rookies.

 

Actually you and Colt are the prime example of ?what happens when you don?t know what you?re doing? When I was typing my last post I was thinking of you guys out in the desert sparing; Yeah sorry guys, but the only stuff that looked cool was the stuff you were choreographing.

E-z big fella don?t get so excided, all I am saying is a choreographed fight just looks better then a bunch of guys jabbing each other in the eye with parksabers. And I think being on a fencing team for two years would put me close to a ?real? saber fight more then most, Colt
