Was up in London today and I saw a bunch of fans (in official shirts) heading for the SA vs Argentina match. I'll probably skip watching that match but I definitely will tune in for the final tomorrow.

Finals day! Been sunny here so it should stay dry for the match. Twenty minutes to go..

It's just approaching 4 PM here in the UK. What time is it for Southern Hemisphere viewers?

I am LOVING this game so far. Milner-Skudder shows that the All Blacks are in good hands after this year's round of departures and retirements.

Quite the send off for Dan Carter, and that try by Beauden Barrett was the icing on the cake.

Honestly though, that could have been such a better game if it wasn't for man of the match Nigel Owens. Really good addition to the ABs.

So Australia and New Zealand split the Cricket and Rugby World Cups.

I'm not going to the Dan Carter fan thread, no.

But look at the record on Owens' decisions v Australia.

Right, because that yellow card did absolutely bupkis for the Wallabies...

Sorry Kyle, did you get the same broadcasts? The offsides ignored? Blatant fwd pass played on? Player doesn't release, but he's got a black jersey so we'll give him a hand?

The fact he had to have a think about that tackle on Drew Mitchell says a lot.

And um, how many win/loss results has Australia had under Owens?

Australia only made it to the final due to poor refereeing. Didn't see you moaning when a penalty was awarded against Scotland, rather than a scrum..

Didn't see me celebrating either. But we actually had to play good rugby to get there. We couldn't steamroller third tier nations up to RSA.

So we know we had capability. We also know 7 matches under Owens has seen it go 7 against 0 in favour.

Neither one of us was confident that one side would dominate going in. And if the calls we got from him you got and you still won you'd say it was in spite of his poor, poor choices.

Finally, Kiwis were singing Dave Dobbyn's slice of heaven after the game. If it's a slice of heaven why are there so many of you ****ers in Australia then? :p

jp, how much is the retirement of those 6 core players - Nonu, Carter, McCoffide et al - going to hurt NZ rugby in future?

I'm still sore about the way the match went down - not that NZ wouldn't have won, but when you see problematic refereeing (a feature of the whole tournament) go so heavily against you it makes the loss more of a sting. Plus we hate losing to you lot. :p

But I'm also wondering if this isn't the peak of NZ rugby?

Barrett, Milness-Skudder, The Smiths, Coles, Savea, Williams... the younger guys have stepped up. There will be rebuilding, sure, but not worried about NZ's player depth in the least.

Great final! I was bricking it a little when it got back to 4 but Carter, legend.

One can argue about the referrer decisions but at the end of the day the All Blacks were the better team, more possession, more territory. They've been the team of the tournament comfortably.

Nice to finally be ahead of the pack in terms of WC victories. :)

Yeah no doubt NZ is the strongest rugby team - no suggestion that they didn't deserve to win, the issue was more that the whole tournament has seen questionable-at-best referee decisions. The final in particular. Maybe the one ref on the field method in this modern digital age highlights why the old ref model is a bit outdated (like calling scrum collapses he cannot see).

So what you're saying jaypes is that we're not going to see a repeat of 2007. I hope.
