Yeah, saber fighting is about the only reliable source of exercize I get. Then laser tag in one of the academic buildings on campus last night...

    Meh.
Too many cheaters at my local laser tag.
Kids and teenagers team up, and the college-age kids that went took it WAY too seriously, pushing your gun away and jamming theirs into your pack while firing, and so on.

    And we'd still whoop 'em.
    Dash, -Aph- and Vapor Trail.
    1st, 2nd, 3rd.
    More often than not, anyway.

Heh I remember this one kid, in his middleschool student self-conscious sort of way, asked me why I was moving around so frantically while he stood still and held down the trigger. The conversation went like this, since we were in the middle of a game:

    "What're you doing?!?"

    "Winning."

This was right before I nailed him in the shoulder target, and moved on to my next victim.
    Owned.

I haven't been there in a few years, but until people started cheating heavily, those were some good times.
I still have my membership keychain.

    Yeah, Clawson LaserQuest.
Crank up the Matrix soundtrack, yo.
    //reminiscing

There should be a lightsaber-type weapon in laser tag.
Even if it were just a reflective tube, which would work.
    That would be pretty elite.

    EDIT: Ugh.
You'd think in a new social thread, this wouldn't be a problem. But no. It is.
And here I am, at the top again.
    Cripes.

    Theater-strapped-to-my-head.

I could use a set of headphones like that. :D

    EDIT:

As for laser tag, yeah. Good times. I have this friend of mine who found a dark corner, and used it like it was a lightsaber. He found a way to push the trigger so fast that it was like a steady beam of light out of his weapon. Highest score, lowest hit percentage. He didn't care. I guess his high spead thumb tactics came from all the video games he plays. (The guns were like phazers, with the button on top, not a finger trigger.)

Interview with Nic Gillard on the front page of TFN

Certain swordsmen particularly impressed Gillard. ?A couple of animators made their own lightsaber fights, which were just amazing,? he says. ?I mean, I watched these guys and thought, ?You know, I could use these guys in the film!??

You think he is talking about that dude, you know the one, the guy with the clones, what's his name again? I don't think I have ever heard it mentioned on this board.

    Oh, dude.
That guy. Yeah. The one with the stuff.

Too bad Gillard didn't use them in the film.

    Or did he?
    The "NDA" mystery haunts me...

EDIT: The headphones are Labtec LT-835, if you're interested.
I broke my first pair way back when, and my second pair which I bought a couple years ago is now damaged.
I have such bad headphone karma. Right now I just arrange the wire in a certain way, and they fit snug.
The volume slider stays closer to my ear instead of hanging by my chest, but whatcha gonna do?

They were only like $20, but the sound is amazing. I recommend 'em.

I've been working steadily on my final project for Digital Media (a lightsaber duel, who woulda thought?). Anywho, I wanted to get most of the shots done by last night and was saving the two longest shots (for a total of 9 seconds) to do after school today so I could do the mix tonight (it's due tomorrow). Well I fell asleep waiting for a render

So I brought two of the pickups we shot yesterday to do in class. I finished those in 30 minutes and now I'm bored. I got a lot to do when I get home [face_worried] I just hope IndyDreams pulls through with the 3 shots he's had since Sunday :p

I'm confused...I did The Man He Killed, a 1:15 duel or something like that, in 13 hours straight. Yet this duel is around 2 minutes with really only about 20 seconds more of sabers than TMHK and I've been working for two weeks. What's so different?

Oh yeah, I'm doing the FX like, good.

    DMP..

If you need some last-minute help tonight, you should get a hold of me.
    I'm all about furthering people's education. :p

On top of that, I'm tiring of my to-do list.
Today is the day I clean not only my room, but the basement as well.
I'll be more than ready to take a break from that.

You know how to reach me.

    What's so different?
Have you WATCHED The Man He Killed?
    [face_whistling](Don't hurt me.)
Actually, it takes me longer too. As you get better, you spend more time making it look right.
I'm also a perfectionist when it comes to this stuff, but that's besides the point.

So, anyway, I've been wandering to and fro about the forums, and finding no dwelling place in them. In this time, I've come to realize something.

This forum is perhaps the most intelligent one in the entire TFN system.

    [face_peace]

    EDIT: Hold da phone . . . what's "NDA"?

    Meh.
    I've got nothing.

We'll tell you when you're older.
EDIT: Yeah, good call Funk. That's a better one.

This forum is perhaps the most intelligent one in the entire TFN system.

    Just figured that out, eh?
It's also one of, if not the best forums in the Geeky Galaxy.

Chancellor_Decorum is my *****, not my girlfriend.

You know what, screw you, this is the thanks I get for being so generous to you. I mean I didn't have to take you down to Celebration III with me. I didn't ever have to let you use my video camera as if it were yours or share my Hyperspace membership with you. This is the thanks I get?? Maybe you could try to be a little more greatful from now on...

    Jeez

Now post the CIII pictures! :p

    Yeah...no clue what that means

I know exactly what it means, but I'm sorry. Despite all divine interventions, you're just not my type.:D

    Anyway, they are quite awesome.
I wish I had a picture of me and Phi holding our respective pairs of headphones and giving the camera a thumbs up and a cheesy smile.

    Oh well.

    EDIT: Dude, wait a sec.
I did post the CIII pictures! Where the heck have you been?

Heh, actually I think he got a 24-hour one a few days ago.
This is what happens when you stray from the Fanfilm forum. You mix in with the wrong crowds, and before you know it...

    You're banned.
    What a shame.

So, I was doing some math in my head while eating and a mastercard commercial came on the nearest TV.
    Here's a brand-spankin-new parody of their ever-so-popular tagline:

    1 1/4" wood dowels from hardware store March '04 - $3
3/4" wood broomsticks from hardware store last October '04 - $2
3/4" aluminum broomsticks from hardware store March '05 - $3

Realizing you had 1/2" lighter & stronger aluminum stored in the overhead space in your garage the whole time?

    Priceless.

Dude that was for playing Mafia in the JCC forums. When you die you are banned for 24 hr. It's not like I did anything wrong to deserve it. Although its not like anyone here in the fanfilms boards would miss me.

Gillard seems to be doing a decent enough job and all, character styles and so on...

...but is it just me or does he not seem to be all that bright?

I could be wrong, as I've only got the documentaries to base this on.
Was he formally trained in some kind of swordplay, or is he just a general stunt guy who Lucas/Lucas' people decided to hire?

I think he is just a stunt guy, no formal training but designed star wars fighting.

So technically I guess you could say any style of lightsaber fighting that differs from Gillards is wrong (for a prequel based story).
