    Some tidbits from the news:

JK Rowling has promised that there would be no prequels to the Harry Potter books. "You won't need them. By the time I've finished you'll have all the back story you need."

Thursday, Al Rai daily newspaper reported that a Jordanian woman knocked her husband out by hurling a tear gas canister at him during a domestic fight.

NASA scientists are saying that Mars may once have been a wet place where life could flourish. According to one of the robot rovers, they have found evidence that rocks on the Red Planet "were once soaked with liquid water."

A German court rejected a legal bid on Friday by an unemployed man who wanted the state to provide him with free pornography and trips to brothels because his wife is in Thailand. He's currently planning to contest the decision in the court of appeal.

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - A dispute at the salad bar turned into a food fracas at an upscale retirement home, with a man taking a bite out of another's arm and other residents suffering minor injuries.

Why? Water can exist in gaseous, liquid, or solid form. We just tend to think of it as liquid.

I concur... I always thought of other worldly water in the form of gas or, in the case of the outer rim planets, solid.

Yeah, but when I say water, I mean the liquid form. Otherwise, I call it ice, steam, or whatever. Water to me, IS the liquid form of H2O. /shrug

From the "Teenagers lieing to thier parents about sex? Who would have thunk it?" department:

PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) - U.S. adolescents who pledge not to have sex until they are married have about the same rate of sexually transmitted diseases as other teenagers and they often fail to keep their pledge, according to a study released on Tuesday.

    In the News:

TEL AVIV (Reuters) - Israel's Mossad spy agency may be the scourge of Arab militants and former Nazis, but it has failed to find thieves who stole the boss's mobile phone, which was lost when his car was broken into in Tel Aviv last month.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Jennifer Garner, who plays spy Sydney Bristow in the television series "Alias," has turned her talents to recruiting real-life spies to work for the CIA in a video on the agency's employment Web site.

COMPTON, Calif. - A jury awarded $952,819 to Maria Vega, an instructor of Roman Catholic catechism, who accused now-deceased priest, Rev. Dennis O'Neila, of punching her during an argument over how to teach. The award was for emotional distress, defamation, and battery.

ADVANCE, N.C. - Two fast-food restaurant employees who bathed in a dishwashing sink took cleanliness a bit too far, but didn't pose a health threat, the county's health director said.

The caper came to light because of photographs of the men taking turns posing, in bathing suits, in a large sink full of bubbles, said Barry Bass, director of the Davie County Health Department.
