*Official* Bowling Thread

You wouldn't believe my reaction when I get an open LOL

I'm not a brilliant bowler by anymeans (I don't do the hook stuff), but it's a sport I absolutely love. My dad used to be a "lane manager" at a bowling alley (ie, one of those completely underappreciated guys that actually keep the whole place running), and he was pretty good apparently.

But I've been known to spend hours at a bowling alley during the day just practicing picking up spares and the like.

But I'm happy with the straight bowling angle. I don't want to change my style now LOL

 

I wanted to be like all of the really good bowlers. There are some real stuck-up jerks at my bowling alley who, when they get an open, look like it's the end of thw world. Hello, you get 230-240 sometimes; I've never even gotten a 200 game before. Plus, they never fall below 100 pins in a game.

 

I don't bowl much anymore. Used to bowl fairly regularly and participated in a couple of leagues. At the time my average was around 160-165 but my games pretty much would fluctuate between about 115 and 190. My high game ever was a 268! Otherwise my high games were about 2 or 3 times around a 230, maybe a 220 once, and then over 200 (but under 210) a decent number of times.

 

Well, I've got league again tonight.

 

every bowling alley I have ever been too has been full of smoke.

 

I hate the smell of smoke whne you're trying to bowl.

 

We don't get that now thanks to the smoking ban

 

There's still smoking in there (it still smells of smoke).

I can't believe that this thread fell that far down.

 

hal is going to try and post some "so called" PROOF of him crushing me in bowling. Scanned score sheets or something.

Just try and think: who would REALLY win in 3 games of bowling, the drinking/smoking Brit who is good at sports or the banking Jew?

dp's scores look about what I normally do, maybe a bit better on average.

The important thing is having fun, though. And I stand by that

 

Well, I posted a pair of 143 games yesterday. You did better than I did, hal, but I'm stil doing well for my current average.

 

I wasnt' accurately converting British balls into American balls!

I think I could beat dp4m at bowling! Those scores are horrible!

 

I got a 104 yesterday. Still, I do have a 124 average.

 

I just hit my worst series ever, 3 games where I failed to crack 100. 2 strikes, with my first ball and in the last frame. So dp, you'd still have accounted for me.

And 127 isn't a horrible score.

 

That's happened to me a couple times; don't you hate it when you can't even hit 100?

 

I wasn't planning on beating him with my bowling skills, I was going to distract him so he'd get an even lower score...

I apparently only bowl well when bets are on the line.

 

Thats better than the other way around, I suppose

 

Yeah...my guy friends have had to wear some funny things from losing bowling bets to me. Thank goodness I won though cuz what I would've had to wear would've been far far worse.

 

Were the bumper guards on the lanes up or down?

 

I used to bowl pretty regularly and when I did I got my average up to about 160 for awhile. Top score was 223, which was pretty damn exciting!

Bowling's the ultimate "in the zone" game I reckon. Some games you feel like you can knock anything over and others you do the same thing and getting much past 100 is a challenge.

 

Aye, a game full of perfect strike balls which inexplicably leave a pin standing each time is extrememly annoying
