Better start planning now. Me and Whojedi spent 5 months planning the C2 party and 9 months on the C3 party.

Tice, if you need any help with organising a party location, or anything, don't hesitate to ask. I know it might sound silly 'cos you're all the way down there, and I'm the furthest you can get from London, but I've got experience with venues and event organisation.

Legal drinking age here in the UK is 18, but there are exceptions:

    Drinking age of consent
It is an offence for a licensee, or his employee or agent, in licensed premises to sell alcoholic liquor to a person under 18 or to allow a person under 18 to consume alcohol on the premises; or for any person to knowingly buy or attempt to buy alcohol for consumption by a person under the age of 18. It is also an offence for any person under the age of 18 to buy or attempt to buy alcoholic liquor or to consume alcohol on licensed premises.

There are some specific exceptions. It is not an offence to sell to or buy for a 16 or 17 year old, beer, wine, porter, cider or perry for his/her personal consumption with a table-meal in licensed premises, provided the table-meal is not taken in the bar area but in a part of the premises set apart for the service of meals. Nor is it an offence for the 16 or 17 year old to buy such alcohol for his own consumption or that of another 16 or 17 year old with a table-meal.

Wow. That exception for "table-meals" was a surprise to me. I believe most European countries have the legal drinking age set at 18, but without the "table-meal" exception. However, the legal age for buying a bottle to take home is often higher.

I'm pretty sure the age for buying a bottle here is 18 as well.

It's 18 for anything, except the exceptions LAJ just mentioned.

And, I hate to say this, but if we do throw a party, I'm in a lot of doubt as to whether that exception will apply. (i.e. probably no food being served).

That my friend, is moot if we book a function room somewhere. They'll expect us to be buying drinks from them.

A party of this scale would have to take place on licensed premises, so that's basically gonna have to be out.
