Just finished Volume 5 of PREACHER.

I like it. Doesn't blow me away. Tell the truth if you actually wanted to you could cut a lot of the stuff that happens out and make one pretty great 2 hour movie.

Volume 6 is in the mail, when I'm finished I think I'll read something BATMAN. Need some Batman. Something I haven't read like Prey, Mad Love, or finishing Morrisons run.

Did a little bit of catching up.

Secret Wars Civil War and Spidey - Renew Your Vows read like "what if tales" which is not a bad thing, but they just don't feel really connected to the main storyline. Secret Wars Thors reads like an episode of Law and Order with a murder mystery.

Superman 42 reveals who's behind back mailing Superman.

Batman 42 shows what happened to Bruce Wayne.

Justice League 42 goes further into the Darkseid War, which I'm really liking.

Latest issue of Saga was kind of a let down, but hints at the future.

Secret Wars #5 was awesome. Master of Kung Fu #4 was ok. I would liked to have seen rand and Shang Chi actually have a one on one showdown but oh well.

Secret Wars #5 was kind of a let down for me, especially after what happened in the previous issue and the scope of the story was limited to a handful of characters. However, a lot of good story telling and character reveals and development in this issue.

Which Volume 5 did you read? As DC have re-issued it and that throws the numbering off.

Ah, yeah, the Salvation arc is pretty quiet, despite that Jesse's mum is alive. The next few stories either tie things off or are setting things up, so it's kind of necessary to a degree.

Hacktivist #1 was decent. We'll see how advanced it gets beyond the modern technology.

Yeah, I finished volume 6 in one sitting. Loved how it all wrapped together. One of those endings that enhances everything that comes before. Up until then I could never really figure what the focus of the actual story was except for finding God. Seeing it more as a story about Jesse and Cassidy made it work better for me.

Plus Starr always had fun stuff going on.

I'm a little skeptical of BC's "well-connected sources" on the budget owing principally to the figure being large enough that you'd think you would be hearing something coming out of a parent company about it. The other stuff is believable, I guess.

Well, I think the Geek community is pretty small and therefore it's easy to network and make friends with staff within various companies. And I'm sure DC's move from NYC to Burbank was expensive, especially if they paid everyone relocation fees and moving expenses.

Looking at DC's comic books sales this year it's not hard to believe they are loosing money:

Jan. 2015: 2 books in the Top 10 best seller (No. 2 Batman #38; No. 9 Justice League #38)
Feb. 2015: 2 books in the Top 10 best seller (No. 5 Batman #39; No. 10 Justice League #39)
    * Mar 2015: 1 book in the Top 10 best sellers (No. 9 Batman Arkham Knight #1
    * Apr 2015: 6 books in the Top 10 best sellers (Convergence 0-4; Batman #40)
    * May 2015: 2 books in the Top 10 best sellers (No. 9 Convergence #5; No. 10 Convergence #6)
Jun 2015: 3 books in the Top 10 best sellers (No. 4 Justice League of America #1; No. 5 Batman #41; No. 9 Justice League #41)
Jul 2015: 1 book in the Top 10 best sellers (No. 5 Batman #42)

    * Convergence is not an ongoing series but rather a limited series.

Dammit. Hacktivist is not new. There was more before it so now I might have to go buy the previous series if it exists in stores.

^ That's the first time I've heard of Hacktivist so I quickly Googled it and to my pleasant surprise is co-authored by Alyssa Milano. The hardcover and eBook version is available on Amazon. From the synopsis, it sounds pretty cool.

Dc should have never killed it's mythology the way they did.

Speaking of which, I read Batman:RIP for the first time. Love it, just as I love everything Morrison wrote with Batman. I miss his batman. I'm about fed up with snyders.

Sure, it makes sense, I just feel like a multimillion dollar shortage on projections would cause some rumblings around the Warner offices or whatever. Perhaps I underestimate the financial scope at which DC traditionally operates.

Snyder is now redoing what Morrison did 5 years ago- replacing Batman for a brief time. He is coasting on a greatest hits routine with Capullo's art.

Superman has been used and abused by a team of creators that are ashamed of him, so they try and modify the character to fit their limited talents. It doesn't work and never will. You cannot make Superman a Batman clone. In the past 15 years the two best Superman stories (All Star and Red Son) utilized a fully powered Superman. You can write good Superman stories, but if all you are capable is destruction porn and punching- its gonna suck.

    Didiot needs to be fired.

I'll be damned if my store did not order Hacktivist #2. However, when I went "D'ooooh!" the dude working there ordered a batch because, "They don't seem to understand that even though it didn't sell well people still want to read it."

Pretty much. Don't get me wrong, Snyders Batman has been good, but boy is it overrated. Still compared to the the worst runs Batman has had, Snyder has done some good work. Black Mirror and Court of Owls were pretty damn good in my book, but everything after has been hit or miss. Not to mention we're 4 years in and he's pretty much only told roughly 6 or 7 stories total. Plus, it's clear now that this is an entirely new Batman who has no connection to the Pre-52 guy, yet it seems Snyder tries to ride on the fact that he is still that character.

Which made the whole NU52 thing worse. All that talk by Didio that the Batman universe would remain mostly intact, and then we just see the history just drop away. I'm not a huge continuity guy, I didn't mind the Star Wars EU getting the shaft, mainly because I think it's time had run out anyway regardless of the buy out. Still when you have a 71( I guess at the time) year mythology and then just kick it right in the nuts, how do you think fans will react?

They should have just has every creator do their own Final story for what ever character they were on, and then started new. All DC has done these past 4 years is confuse people. Hell, I still don't get how the new post convergence continuity works.

DC missed a prime opportunity to do something different after Final Crisis. They should have made all the big DC hero's, NEW GODS, and then had the newer Generation take over their roles.

Post "Convergence" works in that they're just like the Pre-Crisis era. All are out there and all are free to use. So far, "Superman: Lois And Clark" is the only story carrying over and as far as I'm concerned, that's good.

But didn't the pre-52 Earth evolve into the NU52 Earth? If so, does that mean NO MAN's LAND, still doesn't happen?

or it does happen, but in another Universe?

They're other universes now. The new Superman series is basically like the "Mr. and Mrs. Superman" stories from 1978 to 1985. If I recall, there was hints that the Pre "Flashpoint" universe was still in existence, based on interviews from 2012.

Which is why I kinda like that story so far, although it's guaranteed they'll be returned to normal by the end.
