Amph Teenage Mormon Ninja Vampires: Twilight Movie Thread - Now onto Breaking Dawn pt. 2!

Me too. I was completely disappointed last night when there was no outrage. He even laughed during the movie at the jokes that were purposely thrown in there. I was shocked.

 

I just got back from seeing New Moon and am so sad to say that I didn't really like it. I'm disappointed because (and I know I'm in the minority here) I liked New Moon probably best of the books.

I mostly blame the pacing, which was the same as the book---but you can't pace a movie the way you pace a book. In other words, it was SLOOOOOW. Then everything else had to be squeezed in at the end, cutting from this scene to that scene, good grief!

 

It had good music. Not the stupid soundtrack album but the score by Alexandre Desplat. It made the movie watchable.

 

I remember liking the score. Don't care about the MTV soundtrack, but I remember thinking the score was decent. Need to listen again.

 

Though, he did look better with short hair!

You know, I love to hate the books. I love to criticize them. In fact, I live to criticize them. I'm even doing a con panel called Twilight: Bashers vs. Gushers and I'm the Lead Basher.

But I can't get enough of the movie. I love Twilight. New Moon is another story. They really screwed up going with a different director. So many things were wrong but especially the relationship between Jacob and Bella. You just didn't get how much she needed him. And don't get me started on the contact lenses.

 

I really love the part where Jacob says a line with an obvious meaning, and then follows it with an even more literally obvious restatement.

 

Same. I love Twilight but I also love to make fun of how completely horrible it is.

 

I'm hoping the next trailer actually divulges some of the actual plot. Cuz that trailer is rather.. plot-less.

 

Isn't the entire series like that, Miana?

When will this nightmare end?

 

The opening line for my debate is:

"Stephanie Meyer is the grammatical hemorrhoid on the anus of the body of the English Language" and then I'll put up a donation jar that says "Donate to buy Stephanie Meyer a Thesaurus".

 

Add a dictionary in there too.

No, hidden beneath all the layers of crap is an actual plotline.

In Eclipse, the main plotline is that Victoria, still hell-bent on her revenge against Edward, has created a Newborn army that is slowly making its way to Forks. To protect the town (and stupid Bella), the werewolves and the vampires have to work together to stop them before it's too late.


However, it's filled under layers of teen angsty crap.

 

See that sounds interesting. But I got only vague impressions of that from the trailer and not enough to pull me in.

Oh boy.

 

I'm confused about the Jasper plot. They suggest he served in the Civil War, but the previous films established him as something of a new-born (that he was still trying to control his blood-thirsty urges). Am I remembering this wrong??

 

It's a shame that I know this, but Jasper only recently committed to the vegetarian vampire lifestyle that Carlisle, Esme, and the others had embraced. It's still difficult for him. He's no newborn...just changing his diet somewhat.
