And to honor her mother, Leia will choose a similar name for her first daughter.

I'm actually curious if any of you guys would freak out if they repurposed the first name of Mara? I got to be honest that Mara is a pretty good first name for a female Star Wars character.

 

I wouldn't mind the name itself, but the outcry of a thousand fans complaining how she's "nothing like the real Mara" would be just too annoying.

I hate the name of Nomi. You know what it reminds me of? This guy:

 

If they were going with the same basic family unit as the post ROTJ EU did (brother & sister twins for Han & Leia, male son for Luke) I would say keep the EU designations. However, from the casting descriptions of the young leads, doesn't look like it's going to happen. Bit of a shame but if the people working on the story don't want it that way, that's how it's gonna roll.

As for if any of those are Luke's kids, I would say with a definite "Maybe". You'd figure the series would have a "Skywalker" main protagonist. That's kind of a thing. (Only cop out I can think of is that the Han / Leia spawn goes around with the name "Skywalker" cuz it's a galaxy far, far away and might as well)

 

I hope the names are something I can actually pronounce and aren't like crazy things like "Fhars-Zuon" or some weird thing like that. I enjoy the unique yet simple names of the original trilogy.

 

Only way that works is if Han/Leia had some sort of falling out and Luke essentially becomes a surrogate father. That sounds overly complicated in terms of interpersonal relationships in a Star Wars movie.

Plus, I highly doubt they would do that to Han Solo.

 

Dak is a great name for sure. How about a female character named Wedge? .......

Dude, there are going to be thousands of complaints about everything and it will be annoying. We are still in the blissful honeymoon period of the ST before anyone can start bitching and whining about actual details.

I do wanna see new and rising actors & actresses to get a chance for a major role (Star Wars would make them a star [pun intended]) in the movie as well, as well as as having some well known actors & actresses in the movie.

The cold hard truth is Disney simply don't give a rats a** about what EU fans want, because they only make up a very small part of the overall fanbase. I'm an EU fan myself but unlike some EU fans, I've come to accept that the ST will be overwriting the books that take place after ROTJ.

 

I know it's wrong to alienate an actor or actress for films they participated in the past. But every time I see Dominic, his hobbit role immediately comes to mind. I just can't picture him in the Star Wars universe. I suppose if he just did a superb job I might overlook it, but I worry that it might take me out of the story. I know, I know, that's rather harsh but I suppose they aren't asking for my opinion, so I can only hope that if cast he really performs well.
