I actually didn't use the magic wand at all. I think it's funner to just paint on top of the lines. Especially when it's stuff like this that's just conceptual more than anything.

I go over it with all the blacks first, and then add color. Never work with solid color. I think it's better to go over a slightly transparent color a few times if you need a solid.

Eh, whatever. Good luck, though. I can't wait for round 3. My intuos 3 tablet should be arriving or shipping (hopefully arriving at my door, but i'm not sure which they meant) around Oct. 10.

I like that labpizza,it looks painted.I dig the saber, you should see if you can go back in and erase those ink lines for the flare around it.It would make where your goin with it stand out

Omnis-I have no idea what yer sayin,,:) all black?can you elaborate?Good news on that tablet tho, Id love one myself,.Cant wait to see what you do with it either!

Not all black, but all the blacks. In other words, I do the image in greyscale first. It's no big deal, but I do it just to set the lighting patterns, the depth, and the solidity of what it is I'm going to color.

I guess it depends on the artist and how they want to go about painting their piece. There are no set rules or guidelines that you have to follow, as long as you make the painting look good.

Ok,I know what yor talkin about now,.Your usin photoshop right.A guy over at SHH uses the same technique.Dont know why, I had a momentary lapse of stoopid(der!)

You said you never use the magic wand, but what about the selector one?I found a photoshop tut once that uses that tool in conjunction with gradients,it looked pretty good,..Il take a look around if I can find it again, and il post the link for everyone,..(Usin that tool is a pain if your on a mouse, but it could work out when you get your tablet)

I use it if I need to. I just said I didn't stress over being super-neat with this piece, and therefore didn't bother to use it.

    Well, I tried. [face_plain]

Cheaped out on the BG, and it's kinda messy in some areas.

Photoshop 7 | Time: Several Hours (can't pin it down any better than that - sorry)

    - My Entry -

*EDIT - Just included the Paint program used and time taken to complete this.

Beautiful work everyone! Absolutely gorgeous! :D

*hugs Suz* I was hoping to see a colour by you! :) Looks wonderful...such a realistic style. :) What did you use just out of interest?

And here are my two goes...yes again I know two but it's not my fault...I'm indecisive to a fault! I had both going at the same time so together they took about 40 min. Again I'm avoiding work. LOL :D

    When Jedi Go Bad

This one was borne out of my dodginess with a cold colour palette, well that and I've never had the guts to try a blue/red colour scheme. Beautiful lineart so I couldn't resist. Oh and her saber is red as this is when she goes postal.

    Cool as ice

See what I mean...monochramatic and not as dynamic but I just though I'd show it anyway.

I think my entry choice will be the fiery one (unless of course there's overwhelming support for the other ;)

Thanks for the compliments guys/gals :)
Lol Omnis, I guess she does look kind of old, doesn't she? Ha ha ha, Oh well...

C_R - The red and blue play off eachother so well, so I'd have to say that it's my fave of the two. (but the bright blue highlight you got in 'Cool as Ice' is beautiful too.)

Omnis - 2nd Version - I like the texture that you achieved and the darkness of the piece. It's sort of spooky. The lightsaber glow is so lovely too. Really creative. And I so dig the 'Megasaber' of the 1rst version. ;)

Labpizza - I love the subtle little highlights you've included everywhere, and the colouring is so smooth.

Aw, I get a hug? Sweet. Agh! I was supposed to include that above, wasn't I?
It's all Photoshop (version 7 if you want specifics - if it matters). Uh, it took several hours. I don't finish these things in one sitting, and I'm incapable of colouring anything as quickly as an hour. It boggles my mind that anyone could.

On a sidenote, I hope you're feeling better (regarding the inner ear infection). Must say that I found the "I AM A BANANA" line in Deb's thread to be hilarious in the way it was so unexpected.

And everyone who entered,...thank you!You all outdid yourself this time, the ammount of entries arent as plentifu but their is no decline in quality..( I wouldnt have it any other way)

Id like to share a lil story with yall realy quick...
I wrote Duursema an email and informed her of what we were up to last week,..Believe it or not she wrote me back!,(I was geekin!)she was interested in seein what was becoming of her lineart,..So I replied to that email w/ a link to this page but I havnt heard from her again,I was waiting for her to respond or maybe even post some comments before i just came out like this ,but alas, as we all know she is a busy lady. But that positive response has inspired me to coninue to contact artists.Duursema was the right place to start,, but theres several artists out their that have a special place in the heart for Star Wars,,maybe lightning will strike twice!(Id like to ad a disclaimer too,if this does happen lets not turn it into another Mayhew debacle,((saying"Your not you!!")) :)

As you know this round ends tommorow(friday)if you were planning on a submission get that puppy up here.
Id like to see some more voting this time too(I think i can handle it as Ive decided not to respond to votes anymore) ;)

    WOW, I won!

I just realized, however, that I haven't been logged in. (because tf.net logs you out however so often.)

I apologize if I'm the source of delay, and i'll get to scouring lineart. I want to find a Commando piece, though. So, if anyone has any RC lineart, feel free to help me out.

    Commando lineart... now that's difficult.

But you're lucky, since I'm one of the biggest Commando fans you can get:

    http://design.rhodesfs.com/tomhodges/images/download/commando.jpg (artwork by Tom Hodges)

I have more Commando linearts from Reversal of Fortune, but first is that they're HS-content and second that they're very small.

But Tom Hodges has also an ARC-Trooper and Commander Bacara:

    Hope that helps you :)

(if you need Mandalorians, ask me, too ;) )

    Okay, we'll do this one http://img360.imageshack.us/img360/5721/boba4ow.jpg , I suppose.

I need to start making more lineart (well, lineart that isn't just quick sketches...which I guess i'm notorious for) so that my stuff might get picked as well. Hahaha.
