The message canister I've got something in mind for, but if someone can find a good mockup of Dooku's little holoprojector, that'd be interesting as well..

If any of you have the AOTC DVD and a DVD drive, you can screencap it yourself. Hell, I'll do it for you if you want. :p

*ahem* *Points to webpage in her signature*

I didn't spend all that time making a calendar for nothing! I made it so that if people want to know what's going on, they can look it up... Honestly... Some people... :p

EDIT: Hawk, it would be greatly appreciated if you could grab a screencap of the holoprojection thing for me... :)

Fight choreography didn't get started, but we did have people out there swinging wooden dowels and bokken at one another. The next three or so sessions are going to be straight safety training, mostly so someone's head doesn't get split open if their opponent goes for an unscripted Anakin-style spin.

Having said that, watching Shadow and our lead actress beat the hell out of each other with foam foils was a sight I won't quickly forget. :D

Just to give an update on how the film is going:

Fight Choreography is going really, well Looks like we have nutted out one of the major fight scenes, also the Craftanoon must have been a hit, some of the lightsabers look awesome!

After talking to the FTI (Film and TV Institute) we have been given access to all of there facilities which is fantastic, plus some other little things YAY!! So it is great to see we have them backing our little production.

Looks like the film is going to go for an Hour, the cast is full, but anyone else that has any skills that we may need can drop me or SaintHeart a PM. Speshally in Special Effects and CGI, coz theres a bucketload.

Also looks like we have the thumbs up to use some places in the city for filming, have contacted City of Perth, and they seem fine with it all...

Thats a very quick update, hopefully soon we will have webdocs, and more pictures.

But please visit http://www.knighthood.co.nr (sorry dont post much dunno how to put in links)

    Thanks!!

    Another update...

We're doing really well with this fan film. We've got some of the scenes completely worked out and rehearsed without the aide of scripts. We're working on one of the major fight scenes and it is looking fantastic... And we've picked up another funky fighter to help out.

Oh, and there've also been some cool scenes added to the script which means that the final product is going to be even longer than before. But the scenes are fantastic and they really add to the whole experience.

The website hasn't been updated in a little bit, mainly because I have been ill and it hasn't required anything more than calendar updates and photos to be added. But please, do check it out...

We're still looking for more people to help us out in the crew department. Even if that is going to be a lot later down the track... If you're interested, please let us know.

This is for anyone who isn't reading their mailing list ;)

...Fight choreography's back on, guys. Sunday at 2:00 p.m. (Yes, it's Anzac Day, but we missed a week last week...besides, how better to celebrate the day than by combat? :D )

And on that: can everyone please come along prepared with the following items:

    1. Your unavailable dates for the next few months up to and including October, so I can plan out rehearsals better.
    2. If you're on as a Dark Jedi, your clothing sizes (in terms of black tank tops and trackpants).
    3. Most important: YOUR SABERS, WHETHER COMPLETED OR NOT. I'll have the dowels there, so we can adjust their lengths to suit your arm. This is pretty important since I've planned to at least get the sabers done by 30 April 2004.

And can I put a desperate call out for anyone who can sew decently and follow a pattern...if you're willing to work free or for a paltry sum, we need to talk to you. I can get fabrics, but can't sew to save my life. :D

EDIT: The fight choreography is at the original park we always used. aussie_fett, if you want to come along, check the website for a map showing its location (in West Perth basically)

Help us Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're our only hope... Or some other such geeky plea.

We are desperately trying to find a location for one of our scenes to help us keep our costs down. It's either we find the location or we have to build it. So we are asking for your help.

We are looking for a balcony, one that doesn't have many buildings in view of it. I am hoping that Saintheart or someone will update this thread with more specific details of what we are looking for. But please, keep your eyes peeled for a balcony and, if you have a contact at the location, please ask if we would be able to use it.

As an addendum to the above post, ideally what we're looking for is a balcony that:

    (a) is on a high-rise building
    (b) has very little in front of it blocking a view; and
    (c) is made of stone or has a stony look to it (think the Episode One balcony).

Though any suggestions would be muchly appreciated.

We at FUBAR are looking into running a quiz night on the 29th of August to help us raise funds to get Knighthood completed successfully. The night is still currently in the works, and no details have been finalised yet, but if you are interested in coming along to a fun night and helping your local Star Wars geeks out with a project, pass the word along and watch this space for more details.

Edit: Updated the date in the above post to correspond with that in the Quiz Night thread.

Phhhew...after approximately seven months, the storyboards for the film are finally done. At 6 panels per A4 sheet, with a grand total of 83 pages (plus or minus a screwed board here and there) this amounts to just under 500 shots that we now have to film in the space of 10 days of shooting time.

Of course, fair bits of it are CGI, so there's a bit less than that, but hey, it's nice to have an outside estimate.

Also, we're switching from dowelsabers to electric ductsabers. Much more durable for a start. :D

Fight choreography update once more. Had an opportunity to conduct the 6 on 2 outdoors for the first time on Sunday, and I think being out in the open air really did everyone involved a world of good.

Story of the day--arrive at the rehearsal location at 2:15 p.m., wait about five minutes to get some people to show up, then swing into action.

Our two leads (S_O_E and Sam, Warrior Princess) were lookin' goooood, especially when Kartanym (who's pulling double duty during this sequence) and Adrian (another double duty candidate) made their charge in on Shadow from behind. Sometimes the improvised stuff works well; Kartanym wound up getting sliced and falling to one side while Adrian got cut and thrown to the other, so S_o_E formed the point of a nice wedge that kept his Jedi Knight lady friend well safe.

(What's planned (attention, spoilers) immediately after that is a little 1 on 4 takedown hopefully looking as smooth as Inigo Montoya just before he takes on Count Rugen...only this time Sam gets to show how l33t fencers can be.)

Then we moved into the 6 on 2 fight (again, spoilers). This is starting to look much better, and again I think it stems from the fact people can now fall on grass rather than concrete :) ... in terms of a body count, Darth_Soup gets kicked in the face then skewered, Kartanym winds up dead (again) after being basically ringbarked and showing why you shouldn't pull 360-degree turns mid-fight, tenacious_dee gets his guts sliced open, and four other folk die in similarly nice ways, ending with our main fight choreographer Ron (who also coincidentally is the leader of this vile troupe ;) )

And we did a little show of a fight between myself and S_o_E ... who knows, it might end up in the final film.

I await the coming of spring with a smile that is slowly growing, particularly as the weather gets better. Sitting back from the ultimate wide-shot viewpoint (i.e. ten metres from the whole fight) it's looking dead sexy, and the more we practice on open ground the better it's going to look. I can't wait to shoot this thing.

On with script rehearsals and prop construction today, notwithstanding middling weather. I must say Leith, player of the essential character Ditch Rhys, did excel himself today--not least because he brought in, amongst other things, a fullsize TIE Pilot's helmet to offer up as a prize on the Quiz Night. Basically, through his (and Empire's) generous donations we now have an array of prizes that should provide some funding for the film...

Prop construction--another $55.00 down the proverbial, but at least we've now got a good 7 additional sabers on the boil. One or two of them won't be inspired designs, but given the (apparently?) common experience on fan films of barely being able to see $400 US lightsabers bought for the production I'm not really concerned.

Script rehearsal--with the Shadow down with the Pox, we had Sam Warrior Princess rehearsing smaller scenes with Kartanym understudying. I was impressed with both of them.

I'm thinking to turn this into a more or less weekly ramblings column, if anyone cares... :D

Go for it, I've turned my LJ into a film preprod update blog for myself, a few ppl read it, but it's more for me to keep things straight, remind myself if what I have to do this week, that sorta thing.

Tis a good tool the net, and should be used for more than arguing over sci-fi and downloading porn.

Shadow, just don't forget to keep reading your lines and going over moves etc for however long you are out for...

Same goes for everyone. We're running out of days to rehearse. All lines should pretty much be learnt now. Keep any moves you have running through your head. Grab a broomstick and swing it round the the back garden. Figure out florishes and other moves that you can then show off at the next training session.
