San Diego, CA Official Free Comic Book Day - Saturday May 7th! Free ROTS Comic!

I'll be up with the San Francisco Fanforce that day, but I'm just putting out this event for you all. We have trooped it the past couple of years, and this year they are giving away a Star Wars comic, so that is just another reason to troop it this year again!.

Free Comic Book Day - May 7 - is fast approaching, and there's a great Star Wars connection this year that I thought would interest you.

In case you're unfamiliar with it, let me first tell you a little bit about Free Comic Book Day: It's just what it sounds like - a single day when participating comic book shops across North America and around the world give away comic books absolutely free to anyone who comes into their stores, with no purchase required.

This year, Dark Horse Comics is offering a special edition comic of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, which gives fans an early look at the story in comic book form - absolutely free.

technically you could just go to a comic book store and read the ROTS trade paperback that came out two weeks ago for free.

do we want to support one or more of our local comic sellers with a little costume show?

I have the TPB. I have not looked at it. I'm mad that I have to hide it in a box so I don't look at it. I really don't know what Lucasfilm is thinking letting the licensors release product that reveals the entire story over a month before it comes out.

Ah blast. My parents are coming down Saturday so I can have a nice afternoon with them.

Those stores suck.

Last year, Comic Gallery let you have one of each of the 'major' free comics and your pick out from some on the smaller publishers' free comics.

different stores may do different things.. it would make sense to impose some sort of limit, or else someone could walk off with the whole stash.

Both Comic Gallery stores (Balboa and Escondido) will be having Saturday Sale-a-brations, and open at 10 am.

I'm always up for supporting Comic Gallery - so if people feel the absolute need to wear a costume and promote the club, here's another fine chance!

 

the buzz on the literature board says that the free Star Wars comic for Free Comic Book Day is that it's not part of the ROTS adaptation, but rather an original story, taking place between Obsession and ROTS.
