Solo [Official Info] Joonas Suotamo (Chewbacca) in Solo

Chewie knows what a hologram is. He’s just a hothead who breaks stuff and throttles people and rips peoples arms off.

He’s never been portrayed as stupid and I doubt they’ll start now, with his biggest role in a film to date. He’s been consistently presented as a resourceful, honorable, eccentric freedom fighter with a violent temper.

From all the trailers I've now seen I just get the feeling Chewie is going to steal the film.

 

A lot of the early reactions seem to confirm that Chewie’s a real hit in this one.

 

Yes- I watched the scene when it was released completely- it seems that was it- Chewie has serious anger management issues.

Yep it seems they got him right and give him time to shine So I was worried without any good reason. I can say more when I say the movie, but looks good for Chewie. Even if Alden is not perfect Han, Chewie and Lando seem to be very good in this.

 

Agree, which is really exciting. Love Chewie.

 

Came here to post the same thing. His personality apparently really shines through and he’s more athletic and physical than we’ve ever seen him before apparently. Which makes sense considering Joonas was a pro athlete.

Han falling down into the pit reminded me of Luke and the Rancor.

I thought the actor did a good job of portraying Chewbacca. His body language seemed spot on. I didn't have any doubt in my mind that this was really Chewbacca and not some other random wookie.

I never thought seeing Chewie toss Han around would be so satisfying. But it was!

 

Solo: A Star Wars Story is an extremely enjoyable movie, even more so for Chewbacca fans. This film provided the best Chewie on the big screen to date. Also, I think that Joonas did a phenomenal job in portraying the character not only in Solo, but The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi as well, and I think that he is a worthy successor to Peter Mayhew.

By the way, I just read this fan theory on Twitter, and I gotta say that as a Chewbacca fan I really, really dig it!

 

That's a pretty cool theory, and it wouldn't surprise me. Chewie has always been there to kind of push (or pull via chain) Han in the right direction.

Well I wouldn't know about Warwick Davis and Joonas Suotamo; but at least I could vouch for Ashley Eckstein in being a very fine person

 

Do we know if Chewbacca was really eating people?

 

If he was being starved, I don't see why he wouldn't.
