After watching Hannibal im not sure i could accept him taking orders from someone so mentally fragile as Vader,i could see him as a grey character playing off all sides for his own ends. Sowing the seeds of doubt in Vader about the Emperor and vice versa, stoking Tarkins thirst for power and helping the fledgling rebellion.

 

I'll be laughing if it turns out the guy is playing a Rebel veteran.

So he's not playing a bad guy. Great news! I don't want to start a flamewar, I just want to make a stand alone commentary on this: Great news that at least one white guy won't be playing a villain in this film....

 

LOL! Did someone just complain about the fact that the lead cast revealed were pretty much all minorities.
Cause there's not enough hero films out there where the lead(s) are default "white guys" already? LOL!
OMG! A movie with a white female, a hispanic, pakistani, and two asians! How terrifying that must have felt for you for a second.

Mads clearly meant he personally started filming in mid September and he would personally film for 3 months.

 

He's a great actor and I'm happy the guy isn't being typecast as a bad guy

 

I'm going with the theory that's he's playing the Commanding officer of Felicity Jones's character's squadron.

I am more curious about the Kit Fisto on there.

 

I read that that's the signature of the voice actor of TCW Fisto.

Interesting about the name Galen. Does that name stem from the early drafts in any way? I know the TFU game used the name, though I've never played the game. It also used the name Starkiller from one of Lucas' original drafts, and that name is now getting repurposed for a film in an interesting way.

 

Galen is a name common to fantasy fiction. The lead in Dragonslayer, and the technomage in one of the Babylon 5 spinoffs were named Galen, for instance. Star Wars didn't invent the name.

 

Yeah, my first thought was, "That's kind of a generic name for a character from a fictional culture."

 

I'm pretty sure it's a real name, like Luke. Though i haven't googled it yet. Ahh, what the hell, i'll post in stream-of-thought. *Googling* It's in a couple of Baby Name Wizards, From sheknows.com "The name Galen is a Gaelic baby name. In Gaelic the meaning of the name Galen is: Tranquil."

I'm just glad there's been no speculation in here that Mads was playing Galen Marek (or whatever) from the force unleashed. I totally expected to see that. Faith restored a notch or two...


EDIT: This part's not stream of thought. If Galen means "Tranquil," maybe that's something we can latch onto about his characters personality?

 

I would love it if he plays Starkiller aka Galen. In the Force Unleashed ( number something) he's Vader's one time apprentice, right? And helps organize the Rebellion?

Could be characters Mads & other actor play co op those names or the actors were just fooling around.

I did hear that Mads is not playing a "baddie" ,though.

Ooohh....maybe Daniel can reprise his role as a stormtrooper so he can turn the tables and tie Mads to a chair for some long awaited revenge.

 

Since people are discussing the name, Galen is also a Greek name. The most famous Galen I know was a Greek physician from Pergamon who was probably the most influential Roman medical writer. I don't have a clue if this has anything to do with his character or not.
