This is my opinion now, too. It makes sense.

Bringing back Genevieve O'Reilly as Mon Mothma is a bit finger to the nose in the 'what other broad story, familiar characters will Rogue One/Anthologies feature for fun and excitement?' Just feature a hint of Vader's breathing and the foam begins seeping from the mouths of fans.

Yup. And it gets both OT and PT fans excited. Smooth move, Lucasfilm.

Ha! Would be interesting if the Death Star designer deliberately integrated a serious weakness into the structure (the exhaust port) as a conscientious personal rebellion.

What I would love about that is the clear demonstration that social change requires the participation of a broad range of people, both establishment insiders acting quietly, and rebellious outsiders.

In the novel Tarkin, Wilhuff travels to Geonsis to look over the construction of the Death Star. So unless he was reassigned to something else in the meantime, Tarkin is already there.

I don't own Star Wars: Absolutely Everything you need to know, but I find it interesting that the Death Star's designer was executed and then cloned after his failure. This sounds almost exactly like Bevel Lemelisk from the EU. Maybe they're integrating that story into the new canon.

If he defects, then yes. Or maybe he's their "inside contact" within the Empire. But given that Jyn has apparently been "on her own" from 15, then I'm guessing that they likely won't have the warmest/closest/smoothest relationship in this film.

    More confirmation is always good.
I think that is the grey that Edwards is always talking about. She is the rebel, him the imperial who regrets what he has done.

So yeah, they end up on the same side-ish.

Probably not, but one of the earliest rumors was about her watching him be taken by the imperials.

Well it's not like "daddy issues" haven't been a REALLY common narrative device in SW films before. So that being the case here as well wouldn't be at all surprising.

Yeah, I just meant they probably wouldn't have the warmest/closest/smoothest relationship. I very much think there is going to be a lot of play with that dynamic. I think we'll see it being a source of conflict through out. Jyn thinks she got picked for the mission because of her skills and then finds out it was just because of the relationship, which causes her to rethink things. Mads already doubting his role in the creation of the death star is further torn when he finds out his daughter is part of the rebel group looking to steal the plans. etc.

Now that I actually listened to the interview, LFL/Disney needs to get better with the talking points for these Rogue One interviews. Mads talking about it being between 7 and 8 (I assume he meant release date, but doesn't come off as clear) and how it "is before anything else that you've seen."

I kinda like that even Rogue One will still have a story about family. The saga movies are obviously about the Skywalkers, and now we get the Erso story with Rogue One.
