Rogue One [Official Info] Riz Ahmed (Bodhi Rook) in Rogue One

Looks like several R1 cast members will be attending the Globes tonight​

Riz just won himself a ton of new fans.

 

Not many here have spoken about the nice little relationship that develops between K2SO and Bodhi - both Imperial defectors (and pilots). K2 seems to take to him rather quickly, in a way he certainly didn't with Jyn. First, he compliments him on taking out the stormtroopers on Eadu, saying "Well done, you're a Rebel now." And later, after Bodhi gives the Rogue One call sign - rather than make a sarcastic remark about it, he embraces it immediately, and essentially tells the Rebel flight control guy to piss off. It's a small thing, but it was clear K2 felt a kinship with Bodhi. Good, effective, shorthand character work. Rogue One excelled at that.

 

Man, I really like Bodhi Rook! Really wasn't expecting to like him as much before I first saw it..

I love the way he gestures during the end battle when he is enthusiastic.

I also love his line delivery when he's trembling before Saw: "Galen Erso...he told me to find you."

 

Idiots. Ahmed looks absolutely nothing like Patel.

After my last viewing, I think I like his acting in the movie the best. He doesn't have alot, but what he does is so interesting.

 

He reminded me of Poe in TFA. Not a lot of screentime, but very charming each time he appears. They're also both pilots who get captured and are catalysts for the main plot. Hmm.

Anyone think bodhis character could've been a lot better based on his audition tapes off the blu ray? He could've been so funny but in the movie they made him seem so frantic and desperate the whole time.

 

More I watch R1 the better Bodhi becomes. Now my second fav character.

Bodhisattva : person who is able to reach nirvana but delays doing so through compassion for suffering beings.

Yes I would tend to agree with this, I think the fashion Bohdi's character is presented in doesn't really need a great amount of time spent on highlighting his motivation, a simple human desire to do good is easy for the audience to understand.

I would actually say that a flashback to him and Galen I suggested would be more useful for the latter, giving Galen a bit more presence in the story and building more of a link between him and Bodhi.

Really the most interesting aspect of Bodhi is I think not his original motivation but how he reacts to the reality of the situation he's put into. A more naïve view of the rebels/saw is quickly crushed and whats actually being asked of him obviously shifts away from just being info to putting his life on the line.

 

I'm shocked this thread only has seven pages! Bodhi is such a great character.

 

He's one of my favorite Star Wars characters of all time.

 

I think Bodhi was my favourite R1 character. I've just watched it for the second time (first was in the theatre) and I was really impressed by Riz's acting. He didn't have a ton of screen time, but I thought the character really developed in spite of that.
