Rogue One [Official Info] Rogue One: A Star Wars Story - December 16, 2016

Great to know roughly what the spin off will be. A film about rogue squadron is perfect, hopefully it will take place before TFA to make things a bit clearer about what's been happening in the galaxy.

 

There was no rogue squadron in the battle of yavin. Only time the rogue calsign was used was in Empire Strikes Back

Rogue One should be a biopic about this sexual icon...

 

Until we get more details, we still don't really know what it's about. Rogue makes it sound like a Rogue Squadron movie but could there be a bounty hunter connection to this too? Maybe Rogue One is the team that has to steal the Death Star plans?

 

God Damn, I'm excited.

 

If the plot of the movie is similar to this I will go into cardiac arrest from absolute exaltation...

Rogue One aka Wing Commander Two

 

The squadron in ANH is Red Squadron not Rogue Squadron. Luke is Red Five not Rogue Five. That Hollywood Reporter article is messed up.

 

My official guess is Rogue One is a pre-ANH old school WWII fighter jock movie. Our hero is a pilot/spy sent behind enemy lines to steal the Death Star plans. Imagine "Where Eagles Dare" done Star Wars style.

What if Rogue Squadron was originally formed during the Clone Wars and Luke renames Red Squadron in their honour?

Before someone blows up about this Rogue Squadron novel or that novel, that whole continuity is gone and turned to dust now.

 

I'm excited about a female X Wing fighter pilot getting her own full-length movie.

 

My favorite part of this was how certain everyone seemed that we were going to get Boba Fett movie, or a Han movie, or a Death Star heist movie...and Disney comes out of left field with a Rogue Squadron movie. I love this idea, by the way, I just find the whole situation incredibly amusing from a fan point-of-view.

Thank goodness we're not getting something silly like "The Formative Years of a Teenage Han Solo!" or some crap.

It really does seem as if the title of the movie doesn't actually have the words "Star Wars" in it.

For example, in the press release, when they mention The Force Awakens, they make sure to stick "Star Wars" in front of it, but they don't do that at any point for Rogue One.

 

Considering what Rogue means in the Star Wars galaxy, it would seem really odd that they would name film Rogue anything, and not make it about that group. But I guess anything is possible.

 

He was Rogue Leader in the Battle of Hoth. He was Red Five in the Battle of Yavin. Rogue Squadron didn't come together until after Yavin.

 

I thought Lawson turned down the role because it wasn't a worthwhile part, rather a cameo or bit part like his role in the OT. I'm sure if he is given a "Hannibal"-esque leader position for these rogue pilots, he would consider the job.
