This mod approved thread will be discussion about the various parable that are found in the beginning of each episode. The first two were:

-Great leaders inspire greatness in others

-Belief is not a matter of choice, but conviction

So, discuss. How do you like this little lesson in the beginning of each episode? I personally love them, and hope they stay.

EDIT: Just thought I'd change the thread title to "Jedi Fortune Cookies" instead of "parables". Cheers, G_M.

I think it's a great way to introduce a "theme" running throughout the episode, and if it inspires thinking in a kid watching TCW, even better!

It's an interesting way to present the theme of the episode to kids- though I can't help but think that maybe it's a little lazy not to let the show itself present it's idea within the story?

As I said in another thread, I like the quotes at the beginning, I think it does give something for kids to think about than just watching another action packed cartoon like TMNT or Power Rangers.

I like how they tied it into the "A log time ago in a Galaxy far, far, away". It really ties it into the movies. Love them.

Nah, it'd come off too patronising when it turns into the last 30 seconds of He-Man/Thundercats ;)

I like the idea that a viewer too young to work out (or read, for that matter) the connection, can ask a parent or friend what it means. Not only will they be told, but it'll start a discussion too :)

Way more effective than having Orco swan onto the screen and explain that Man-at-Arms got slapped down for bragging about his moustache :p

Well, I'm not suggesting they just declare the theme in a "well, what did we learn today?" speech at the end of the episode, but let the viewer come to that conclusion based on the events. Even if they aren't conscious of it, kids do that all the time and there've been several quality cartoons over the past 30 years to do so.

It works for me. SW was partly a fairy tale and this seems to fit. Sets the theme and is a good lesson for kids.

It had to be done at some point by somebody, so I guess that somebody will be me:

-Great leaders inspire greatness in others in bed

-Belief is not a matter of choice, but conviction in bed

-Easy is the path to wisdom for those not blinded by themselves in bed

-A plan is only as good as those who see it through in bed

-The best confidence builder is experience in bed

-Friends are hard to find, difficult to leave, impossible to forget in bed

-You hold onto friends by keeping your heart a little softer than your head in bed

-Heroes are made by the times in bed

-Ignore your instincts at your peril in bed

-Most powerful is he who controls his own power in bed

    Some new ones I forgot,

#10 Most powerful is he who controls his own power.

#? It is a rough road that leads to the heights of greatness.

#? The costs of war can never be truly accounted for.
