Official Plymouth (SW England) FF Chapter Thread

Well down here it's gets a little lonely for a Star Wars fan, but recently I've heard of the Honiton Conference and such events that makes me think that there is quite a strong SW Community down here.

Therefore, let's have our own thread, and hopefully start to create "FanForce Southwest". Anyone's welcome of course, and if there are any helpful hints or ideas that would be great.

So let's hear your thoughts and views... this could be the start of a beautiful thing!

Good luck with getting your own chapter As DarthArsenal says the best person to speak to is Darth_Asabrush - he can fill you in on what you need to do.

Just like to lend my support to Sebulba.

I live in the South West, jamie69-its the furthest point from the bright centre of the universe, its not slimy but my home it is!!

Star Wars fandom seems to be fairly strong here in the Westcountry, although I think everybody must be shy!

I'm one of the organisers of the Honiton event and while I'm not really a regular poster on the TFN let me know if theres anything I can do?

Brilliant Andy! Did you get my E-mail or just wonder accross this? The main thing we need is people, I'll PM you a copy of the terms needed to create a chapter. It's so good to have the support of the Exe-Wingers too, this might actually work!!

We've got to meet aswell, I guess the Honiton event is ideal for that. Have you confirmed anymore guests yet?

Yeah, I got your e-mail, thanks.

We will do what ever we can to help, I'm afraid thats not an awful lot with the event looming!

If people want to meet up at the event, we can announce a time and a place over the PA.

Not to sound too negative but is it wise to fracture this board up into so many regions?
Its great for real world meet ups etc, as we are all more likely to go somewhere locally, but is it neccesary for the the board discussions to be seperated...........just a thought!

I'll support a South West region in any case.

I agree with your segragation point Andy. But it's the only way that any large number of people can communicate. But anyone's more than welcome to post here wherever they're from.

Clanger, I see your point but that's the way FF works. The "Local Chapter" boards are really for discussing local events and issues. While we all have the main FFUK board (ie: here) for general and national discussion!

Check out the London chapter to see what I mean!

PS - You'll need to make a decision on your chapter locale (ie: Plymouth etc...) Chapters are city/community based rather than regional.

 

Yeah DA. It'll probably be Plymouth, but now we've got the Exe-Winger's up in Honiton and they really are the business. The next convention they're holding will be brilliant to meet up.

Off the cuff, would Exeter be the best choice for a south west regional chapter?

Its fairly central, although Plymouth has a vastly superior cinema, don't know why I mention it, it just came to mind!!

The location needs to be somewhere that is convenient for all chapter members to attend.

For example: If I wished to start a south coast/Hampshire chapter I would probably choose Southampton as this is central to Bournemouth, Portsmouth, IoW and Winchester etc.....

The chapter would be called Southampton but could involve everyone from across the south coast/Hants region.

 

I think Plymouth having the superior cinema is the pivotal factor. It's also got quite a few pubs, and easy to ge to via train, bus... even aeroplane of you really wanted. Therefore I declare this...

"THE PLYMOUTH FANFORCE CHAPTER"

It's geographical location can include fans from Cornwall aswell as North Devon and possibly Somerset at a stretch.

EDIT: and don't worry about that Andy, it's a good point, and we should remember to keep united at a national level
