Too late. It's all your fault.
I'd be here for Cumberbatch.
Fixed that for ya
If Luke does have a son (for the longest time I was banking on Luke having a daughter but recent a-rumblings, a quip from John Williams about Luke having a kid, several mentions that they're casting for Luke's son. Han and Leia probably get the teenage daughter.) I think Ben Skywalker is a solid name to use. Maybe not the entire exact character history but, y'know Skywalker son, named Ben, probably a Jedi. Works well.
Cumberbatch is a slam dunk for Episode VII, since the day it was announced. The man's entire career was pointing to this.
Immediately this comes to my mind:
"You think your EU is safe.
It is an illusion, a comforting lie, meant to reassure you.
Enjoy this final batch of novels.
For I have come
To commence my purge.
So, shall we begin?"
*flashbacks reveal that Cumberbatch was Darth Plagueis the whole time since Ep. 1 and has been alive and well since then and in cahoots with Palpatine. Continuity proceeds to implode on itself.*
if the EUis going to disappear, please add at least a cameo of Kyle Katarn in the movie.
One can dream.
Kyle is almost always terribly written outside of his video games. Better off keeping him there.
Cumberbatch would make a great Sith.
Also they have pretty much exhausted the monster / masked man / old man Sith - a younger human is the way to go.
Maybe all of the EU characters will appear in a cameo and die horribly prolonged deaths? Kind of a dark demented Harlem Shake?
...decapitates Ben Skywalker in the opening minutes!
I would actually rather see him as a villain than Cumberbatch or Maybe two villains?
I would love Sharlto in a SW film actually.
And make sure he's played by Jason Court!
Depends on the kind of villain.
Its like the Lex Luthor stuff thats out there now. Brian Cranston would be a great Lex Luthor, but so would Mark Strong, they would just play the character differently.
i'm still wondering if EU will continue as a separate universe along side the new movies, since Sword of the Jedi and the following duology are still planned to be released right before, if not at the same time as Ep 7. I can't see them releasing some books, only to render them all invalid a mont or two later.
He's moved on to winemaking. Circa January 2013:
So? They could still give him a cameo
And in the cameo nobody understands a single word he says, but he makes them all mighty fine wine.
Just read ACIN and it looks like Cumberbatch is not a certainty after all
This has been covered rather excessively in the appropriate Announcements thread.
It's only a rumour, but it'd be a pretty neat coincidence.
"Jason Court" is so formal. Most people call me "the Dude," or Your Dudeness," or "El Duderino"...
