Well, maybe it was my misunderstanding then, sorry about that. All is well
I think in retrospect I should have been more clear with my wording too (didn't even consider how it could be misread until just now), appologies again and great crawl
The crawl is pretty awesome.
I did think it was Ryus's!
Failed I did in making it clear the videos making did not I do. Reread I didn't my comment more literally before posting than the insane sarcasim I thought implied I did, being at work and posting my comment when my boss wasn't looking likely the reason was . Appologies to TigerCraneFist and this thread I now make.
Edit: (Bohemian Rapsody Star Wars edition just watched... Yoda saying "Matters nothing does" is responcible for backwards talking it is. Great video it was . .. also not mine it is )
Clarity on a message board is a rarity.
...and requires even better timing when we're rhyming...
But poetry is dumb because I'm so numb.
You sound like you're whinning and have bad timing
I was actually a big fan of the way the expanded universe was used in the Clone Wars series and I think that serves as a good template going forward. Most if it can be mixed together, there is a hellova lot of inspiration and names taken from it, but it serves as a guideline and resource as opposed to strict canon fact bible. The whole Death Watch Mandelorian warriors thing is a good take because, while it's not a whole planet of Boba Fetts, there is a strong underlying basis of that is what the culture is, and what it turns into over the course of the Clone Wars, without actually being "Everyone on Mandelore is Boba Fett" sort of take that was the prevailing view of the Expanded Universe beforehand. I can see a lot of EU popping up in the ST, same way there's a hellova lot of EU in TCW, but not being Precisely Exactly The Same.
Well what fun is a discussion thread if everyone just has the same opinion?
A point I actually think is important. A split universe I would actually be perfectly OK with if the Films did their think and the EU did its thing. Works for me, I just never care to see the films and keep buying the EU. But because of the announced "story group" we know that whatever take the sequel trilogy has will be the ONLY take that Disney will allow going forward. I don't particularly care about Luke's adopted Gotal daughter Billy-Jean Skywalker, I do care about Jaina and Ben etc.
The thing is that even with TCW, Lucas still quietly left time before and after TCW occurred, and even gaps between, for the existing EU stories to occur in without deciding to start TCW with Anakin's honeymoon and end it with him and Obi-wan dropping out of hyperspace into the battle of Coruscant.
Yes, it wasn't saying "this was part of the story and mine adds to it" but it was at least some form of tacit acknowledgement that it existed as part of the universe in some form or another, and the LFL team could figure out the details of how it worked.
Don't make me come over there, for I have a pet grizzly bear.
Do you also have a Lion and Tiger?
Or are you lying with swagger?
No but I have a ninja star in the cold trunk of my car.
That's it... pad that post count...
No matter what the amount.
All these rhymes are hurting my head
Isn't this an EU thread?
We are bored.
It shouldn't be ignored.
...and once on topic rhymes have failed it will be officially derailed.
So guys do you think the ST should use the EU as background or not??
Partially yes and partially no.
background, they're already using it as background for Rebels, with The Inquisitor, and Sienar systems, plus according to Star Wars Insider 146, the makers of Rebels, are in constant communication with the makers of the ST, and the spin offs.
I know this thread can get rather myopic, but let’s get it back on topic.
(Clears throat as beat-boxing can be heard in the background)
I’ve been reading this thread for quite awhile
Now hear me out as I begin my freestyle
The story of the ST should be original and fresh
No need for elements like the Gauntlet of Ludo Kressh
Still, I hope they won’t play the EU fans for fools
Maybe there are bits and pieces of EU they will use
Elements of books that they will pick and choose
Acknowledge the fate of the EU, lest fans blow a fuse
Perhaps they can use names like Jaina, Jacen, or Ben
This is the Star Wars universe, full of ideas to expend
Now, whether or not they keep the EU, I’d still watch
As long as the plot is good, the story they won’t botch
What matters to me is that this is a film we can all enjoy
EU use or not, make us go “What a great movie, oh joy!”
This thread has really come full circle... but in the wise words of MC
@Circular Logic, I think the ST is destined to use only bits and pieces of the EU... place names, creatures, planets, etc. Character names maybe too, but doing that is tricky because people who know the EU have established expectations for those characters.
It'd be utterly hilarious if JJ announces that the ST is disregarding everything about the EU, yet all three movies are an adaptation of Splinter of the Mind's Eye.
Episode VII, Part 1: An Unexpected Crash
Episode VII, Part 2: The Desolation of Vader
