Celebration II Journal -- December 20

There are thousands of scattered pieces waiting to be fit together for the upcoming Star Wars Celebration II, set to premiere at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, May 3-5, 2002. Collecting those pieces and fitting them into one memorable weekend is our job. Collecting what pieces you'll take with you from Celebration... that's your job.

Wizards of the Coast, our convention partner in Renton, Washington, is working with noted Star Wars collector Lisa Stevens to create a varied and rich Star Wars collecting track. The track will feature panels and programs by Star Wars collecting experts, and will run in a large, dedicated room throughout Celebration.

Stevens and Gus Lopez, another Star Wars collecting authority, will tap experts who will host panels and share their varied and extensive knowledge with Celebration II attendees. The many panels will run the gamut from the history of collecting, to displaying and preserving your collection, to customizing your Star Wars collectibles into the toys you always wanted but that were never made.

Stevens and Lopez are also preparing Star Wars Collectibles Road Shows. Celebration II attendees can bring their Star Wars items to the Road Shows, where a panel of experienced collectors will estimate their value and discuss the items' history and place in the Star Wars collecting universe.

That's just a start. Check back as we announce more collectible panel topics, schedules, and guest speakers, both here and at Wizards of the Coast official Celebration site: www.starwarscelebration.com.

Learn all the ins and outs of collecting, and then shop for Celebration II merchandise created exclusively for the Celebration store. Everything you'll find on the shelves will be available only at Celebration II, including a very special action figure you'll probably want, even if you're not already a Star Wars collector.

Some collectible treasures can be displayed on shelves. Some treasures can only be collected as memories. Star Wars Celebration II will be rich with memories for fans of the galaxy far, far away. Collect a gallery of memories -? learn new tidbits of information on special effects, view that Star Wars film clip you never knew existed, experience the thrill of the opening ceremonies, meet a new friend in a spacious reception area set aside just for gathering, share a meal and laughs with old friends at one of the many restaurants near the Indiana Convention Center.

Collect memories. Collect friendships. Collect some really cool Star Wars stuff. Celebration II!

It's hard to say "collector" without thinking of Star Wars collecting authority Steve Sansweet. Sansweet, who is the Director of Content Management & Fan Relations for Lucasfilm Ltd., is scheduled for a live interview on Indianapolis local radio on Friday, December 28, 2001 at 8:00 a.m. EST. You can also tune in to the web at www.wzpl.com or www.z995.com. Steve will be sharing straight from the source, not about collecting this time, but about the excitement of Celebration II.
A Star Wars Antiques Road Show (of sorts)...Awesome! I don't think I have anything that I don't already know what it's worth (or have some idea anyway) but it should be interesting to see what other people haul in to get a price on.
