Same way the Discovery Channel got ruined by Motorcycle Enthusiasts.
Even though the Jedi were a small group a disproportionate amount of people knew about them, because of the excessive power they held in the Republic. Although I think the Jedi were exaggerated in the Repubic, either their heroic qualities or their bad ones, like tabloids for celebrities.
Ever notice how many people try shooting a Jedi? It's a lot. And I don't mean badass bounty hunters, or Mandalorian warriors or other such groups who specialize in techniques for killing Jedi, I mean your everyday, common thug. They near always try to shoot their way out of it when confronted by Jedi. It speaks to a general ignorance of the true extent of Jedi abilities. Anyone who knew what Jedi were like wouldn't do that. Bringing a gun to a Jedi fight is a bad idea, and will quite likely result in the gun wielder's death, but people keep trying it.
Indeed. That's why I have the utmost respect for Jango Fett when it came to battling Jedi. This guy slaughtered six Jedi with his bare hands (and armor), and was genre-savvy enough not to utilize blasters when dealing with them.
Proof? Here you go:
Jango Fett Ownage (Move your mouse to reveal the content)
Jango Fett Ownage (open)
Jango Fett Ownage (close)
Perhaps we will get to see more badass Mandalorians like this in Rebels?
We should get the Commandos from the novels into the show
Is that being a badass or plot armor? I would expect that many jedi do a whole lot better in melee range combat against one guy with no weapons.
Travesty Commandos? Very unlikely after the bridge burning stunt she pulled.
Actually it's still likely. As far as the creators of Rebels are concerned, those are just some of many characters they can potentially use in their show. When it comes down to it, they don't care one iota about the original creator. That's just the reality of business.
I'd love, love, love to see an appearance or three made by the members of the Imperial Commando Special Unit.
And if we are ever treated to some Imperial commandos in Rebels, I, for one, vote that Filoni and co. dust off Greg Knight's unused concept art, give it the ol' McQuarrie once-over, and bring this to life:
The republic commando characters could appear but you are living in fantasy land if you think canon will ever draw upon the mythology that KT created around them.
Yeah, probably not. TCW was very pick-and-choosey when it came to following canon; Rebels could easily be the same.
Are you speaking to me? Because I only said I'd like to see members of the ICSU appear, based on Knight's unused designs (and nary a mumblin' word regarding Traviss' characterizations).
That said, we already saw Delta Squad, so I don't know what all the fuss would be about. In the end, they are Star Wars characters, after all (even if Traviss might like to think they belong to her).
Damn.... Do want!
That is an awesome looking Commando
Heck, yeah! And it's just sitting there in the archives, unused for a few years now. I really think Rebels could do a lot worse than to bring these guys to the small screen.
And here's the real kicker: not only do they look bad***, but considering what little we already know about the show - the whole "...a time where the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights" - I think featuring the Imperial commandos, at least now and again, would be a pretty good idea.
Like I said, clones brutally and efficiently killing a Jedi in the first arc/episode would be a perfect introduction to the Dark Times era. These clones look like they fit the bill.
Agree with you there
Furthermore, I think an established (in the films or the rest of the EU) character would give it more impact and weight.
Eeth Koth fits the bill considering he is kind of in limbo at the moment.
So does Voolvif Monn, which could be a great throwback to the micro-series.
But hey, who knows, even Depa Billaba could fit the bill with some work.
I'd love to see Rahm Kota make an appearance in Rebels eventually.
Depa interesting was she not comatose in the Medic Room at this point? Not to mention no confirmed death not that stopped the Clone Wars. Although I would more see Palps snatching her up for Study and/or Use given her trip to the Dark Side before the coma.
I still think that Eeth Koth should be killed by Grievous, if only to give the general back the kill that Savage robbed him of, Adi Gallia. Unfortunately, it's rather unlikely the bonus content will feature Grievous or Koth, so that's probably not going to happen unless some EU author writes a story about it. But I doubt that Koth is still alive by the time of RotS simply because Agen Kolar has replaced him by the time-frame of LoE. So unless Koth decided to step down (seems unlikely), I'd have to assume he was killed during the Clone Wars, sometime after the events of The Wrong Jedi.
Depa Billaba? Eh, unless you wanna see clones shooting an inert, comatose Jedi who can't fight back, I'd rather not see her at all. Plus, that's probably a tad too dark for a show aimed at younger audiences like Rebels is.
Voolvif Monn's last stand would be cool to see though.
On the related note of Jedi surviving the Purge, I definitely want to see K'Kruhk, for example.
K'Kruhk would be awesome for no other reason than I would finally know for sure how the hell K'Kruhk should be pronounced.
I'm still wondering how 'light-hearted' Rebels will be in comparison with TCW.
No Depa Billaba please.
Retconning Shatterpoint would be almost as awful as what TCW did to Barriss's character.
