Yeah, when no one was talking to me after about a week, it kinda clicked: I have a new screen name!

But we finally got some takes with which we're (mostly) pleased.

Well... our current injury list goes sumthin like this:


5 waps to the head with a dowel (3 dowels broke due to this)

10 bleeding knuckles/fingers due to dowel smacks

3 sprained ankles

1 nasty gash on an arm (due to a mishandling of a live steel blade that we had lying around)

Lots of headaches, arm aches and leg aches.

4 broken dowels


This was all from practice this weekend... can't wait to see what injuries actual filming will hold =D

Wow!

Everyone seems to be working on this like 5 hours every weekend. I worked on mine for about 2 hours in 1 weekend total. It's not that great, but I had nothing better to do . . . .

 

Is it too restricting to practice using gloves or bicycle helmets?
Just for my info and future reference.
I was planning to use dowels and such.
Only until more practiced, I was planning to use gloves and so on.
Is that just too restricting to improve visual performance?

Judging by the injury list... it seems nessisary. Did all the injuries happen during practice or the film shoots?
Curious.

 

They happen no matter what you're doing. If you're a choreographer, you come to expect it. If you don't have any injuries, there's something you're not doing right.

If you practice without gloves on - you deserve everything that happens to you.

as far as getting hit in other parts of the body there is NO reason for you to get hit in the head unless you werent there to block. I have been victim of that myself.

 

Hell! I wore my gloves DURING my fight! And the bicycle helmet idea...well, let's just say I'd LOVE to see a fight with somebody wearing one of those!

Well I'm getting through editing in the last round of pickups for our fight and soon I'll be plowing through the last of the effects. Here's a little something we shot on the last day.

the sabers involved

three lots of single sabers
two lots of two sabers
a double bladed
and saber-chuks.......maybe..

yes thats seven ppl.......

even i amaze myself sometimes

practise started three months ago.......yes that IS like a year ahead

And I suspect that there will be another competition this summer...

 

Is there anyone here who would like to rotoscope or put sabersounds on my 2 minute figth clip ?

 

Well, the early submission deadline passed awhile back, and being that it's less than a week till the final deadline, I'm not going to volunteer the competition's rotoscopers (even though they sat by ready and waiting, and no one had anything for them, except for.... never mind. we won't go there SAGE)

But you can still PM Ryan and DorkmanScott. I'm sure they've got nothing better to do.
