In non-presidential news, Olympia Snowe is retiring, which greatly increases the chance that Democrats will pick up another seat and keep control of the Senate.

    Looks like it!

It's a bad move for moderates, but a good move for Democrats.

Does that leave Susan Collins as the only moderate left in the Senate? Maybe Lisa Murkowski?

It's too bad, I wanted to see the GOP explode ;)

But if you asked me a month ago about Michigan, I would have said that no one is even going to pay attention to it, that it's an easy Romney win and no one will even contest it.

Basically, Romney survives, but he's no closer to victory. It's like when Gingrich had that chance to win Florida, if Gingrich had pulled it off then Romney would have been crushed, but he managed to survive. The main take-away is that Romney will continue to limp along.

Honestly, with Romney turning out to be a gaffe machine, and pushed so far to the right, I think it might actually be easier for Obama to beat him. I'm starting to think of him as my preferred GOP nominee to go against Obama.

So, what states are up for grabs on Super Tuesday? :p

I have been saying for months that Romney is a garbage candidate, the more people hear about him the less they like.

Romney at least is seen as a sort of Obama-lite, so it's better that he runs in the outside chance he might win. If Santorum actually happened to win against Obama I would advocate moving most of the west to the Moon.

I don't think the Clangers would be that welcoming to be honest.

Santorum actually ties with Romney in Michigan... for delegates. They get 15 each.

Frothy has to win Ohio or this thing is over.

I don't think anybody expects this race to end on Super Tuesday. Romney winning Ohio will make him the clear frontrunner again, and bring some confidence back to his campaign, but it won't end the primary fight.

Santorum raised $9 million in February. There's a chance that the Santorum campaign now has more money than the Romney campaign, or that it at least raised more.

Oh, the race will drag on till May.....but any chance of Frothy actually winning the nomination is over with a loss in Ohio IMO.

What do you guys think of this Republican's ad, who's running for the Senate against Sheldon Whitehouse in my state?

    Link

I think I should be appalled that he's using his 5-year-old in this way, but the kid is too cute! :p

I missed this thread during the last few days of travel, especially during Rick's fascinating comments on the evils of college.
Like I said before, in any sane country he would already be out of the running.

Darth-Ghost, that commercial follows under my standard policy. During a politician's campaign, and after a politician is elected, I do not want to hear a word from their children, spouses, etc, unless it's an exceptional case. I'm not voting for them, and they're not part of this. Generally, they shouldn't show up in speeches, in ads, etc.

"Five-year-olds, are you better off now than you were five years ago" is a hilarious line, though.

Most countries are sane enough not to have a *****y, nonsensical primary system. One nationwide primary on one day would've spared us most of this.
