A man who showed up at a convenience store in sub-zero weather wearing only a jacket and underwear has been charged with drinking and driving offences.


In a release, Greater Sudbury Police said when officers arrived at the store Thursday night, they determined the man was highly intoxicated and had driven to the store.



The 41-year-old man was found to be almost twice over the legal blood-alcohol limit and had his licence suspended for 90 days. His car was towed.


The man is charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and blowing over the legal limit.


He was released with a pending court date

 

The headline claims he was a robber, but the story contains nothing to support that.

 

Yeah, I just noticed that too. That's from our local paper. Knowing the way things are here, he probably showed up without a weapon, demanded money, and the cops just said, 'he's too drunk to know anything, into the drunk tank, ok, you can go home now.... you better be in court'

Police: Drunk Pa. man tried to revive dead opossum

PUNXSUTAWNEY, Pa. ? Police say they charged a Pennsylvania man with public drunkenness after he was seen trying to resuscitate a long-dead opossum along a highway. State police Trooper Jamie Levier says several witnesses saw 55-year-old Donald Wolfe, of Brookville, near the animal Thursday along Route 36 in Oliver Township, about 65 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.

The trooper says one person saw Wolfe kneeling before the animal and gesturing as though he were conducting a seance. He says another saw Wolfe attempting to give mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.

Levier says the animal already had been dead a while.

The Associated Press could not locate a home telephone number for Wolfe.

PORTLAND, Maine ? About two dozen women drew a crowd of onlookers when they shed their shirts and marched downtown in Maine's largest city to promote what they call equal-opportunity public toplessness.

Organizer Ty MacDowell said the point of Saturday's march in Portland was that a topless woman out in public shouldn't attract any more attention than a man who walks around without a shirt.

The Portland Press Herald reports that by the end of the march, more than 500 people had amassed ? a mix of marchers, young men snapping photos, oglers and people just out enjoying a sunny, warm day.

It's not illegal for a woman to be topless in public in Maine, and police said there were no incidents or arrests
